Because the great pervasive clarity extends even to the insects in the thatch, there is not even a particle of change, deterioration, or degradation from its own nature in the state of samsara, just as impure mercury does not mix with the nature of dust even when it falls into the middle of fire. As it is said in the Guhyasamaja Tantra: "Apart from the precious mind, there is neither Buddha nor sentient being." And as it is said in the Yeshe Drubpa: "The sacred light of the mind, is the Buddha who is always first, not made by anyone, self-arisen, it has always been there." Although this is so, the nature of the Tathagatagarbha is free from elaboration, so for the time being, in the realm of sentient beings, because it is obscured by the eight aggregates of consciousness, it depends on purification by samadhi, and until it is not brought under experience, it is very hidden in the consciousness associated with discrimination. As it is said in the Sutra of Dense Array: "Just as very good gold, is not visible in the shape of gold, but after searching and beating it very carefully, it becomes visible when it is completely purified. Similarly, the alaya-consciousness, and the seven consciousnesses, are always seen by the yogi who has completely purified them with samadhi." The reason for this is that Shariputra said that the ultimate truth can only be realized through faith, so with the support of faith, it is realized through the power of meditating on the characteristics, or some are directly seen from the wisdom of the meaning of empowerment in Vajrayana, but for those who have become dependent on conceptualization, the consciousness contaminated by the eight aggregates is like something fabricated, and not manifest. As it is said in the Jewel Cloud Sutra: "Although these are selfless, those who are attached to the belief that infants and ordinary people have a self, manifestly cling to 'I exist in the aggregates.' Because of manifest clinging, they do not comprehend suchness. Because they do not comprehend, they wander in the wheel of samsara like a wheel of fire." This is clear. Therefore, from the definitive meaning sutras and the profound principles of secret mantra, the reason why sentient beings and Buddhas are undifferentiated and abide in great equality is as stated in the Noble Tree Sutra: "Whoever, I and all the Buddhas, have the same nature,"
