One will die without hindrance, and after the body is destroyed, one will also think of being born among the gods in the happy realm of higher realms. Therefore, viewing the benefits in that way, one can also be patient oneself, and also cause others to correctly hold patience, and also praise patience, and when seeing a patient person, one will also feel joy in one's heart, and always feel joy. So it is said. Furthermore, in terms of the ultimate truth, the nature of anger is the principle of being without characteristics. If one examines very carefully, for the nature of harm, there are no characteristics, just like ripples in water. When thoughts, frowns, and roughness disappear, like the sky, it is completely empty, without gain or loss. In this regard, the patience that transcends the world is: for the object of the harmer, eliminating thoughts with the four inverted ways. When the subject examines the mind, the nature of harm is only born from sudden causes, and there is no ability to continuously hold characteristics with one's own nature. For example, just as ripples in water appear in an instant and disappear in an instant. When the sudden frowns, which are gathered by actions and accompanied by thoughts, disappear, all the remaining mental factors of anger will cease. Why? Because it is only because of having a mind that it intentionally arises in an instant like an illusion. If one abides equally only there, because one's own nature does not arise, like the sky, because one does not conceptualize, there is no gain or loss. As it is said, in the "Earth Store Ten Wheels Sutra," it says: "All actions are completely pacified, all thoughts are completely abandoned, the mind is equal like the sky, everything is entrusted to this patience." Also, in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way," it says: "Knowing this, like illusory things, one will not become angry at all things." It also says: "Like this, what is there to gain or what is there to lose in empty things?" This is the patience of practicing the Dharma based on the principle of the ultimate truth. On the ground of practice with faith and understanding, it is following the sound; on the seventh ground, it is following in accordance; on the eighth ground and so on, it is patience towards the Dharma of non-arising. As it is said in the "Commentary on Entering the Bodhisattva's Way." Also, because if the three ascetic practices of patience decline, then,

Generosity and the other five perfections are like a narrow path surrounded by enemies, difficult to reach the desired place, so generate the power of wisdom. Among the three kinds of endurance of patience, the first is the endurance of accepting difficulties. If one becomes discouraged from the endurance of accepting difficulties, it will become a great obstacle on the path. Because beings are entirely dependent on the control of karma, the causes of happiness are few, and the causes of suffering are many. As the "Bodhicharyavatara" says: "The cause of happiness is rare, the cause of suffering is extremely abundant." This also depends on one's own past karma or external conditions. If one engages in virtuous deeds, one will experience various difficulties caused by the worries or actions arising from it. At this time, one must be able to transform the conceptualizations of suffering or the lack of tolerance for difficulties into the path through courage. As the "Gandavyuha Sutra" says: "Daughter, in order to destroy all your afflictions, you should generate an unbearable mind." If one enters the Mahayana path but becomes weak-willed and lacks steadfast courage, even small difficulties will become a cause for turning away from the path. Those who possess great courage, because they turn away from cowardly behavior, even great suffering and asceticism become companions on the path. For example, a brave and resolute person who enters the battlefield, seeing his own blood, will generate even greater courage; while a mind as light and wavering as a cottonwood petal, if it becomes cowardly, will be terrified and faint even at the sight of another's blood. As the "Bodhicharyavatara" says: "Some, seeing their own blood, their courage increases; some, seeing another's blood, faint and collapse; this is due to the firmness or cowardice of the mind." Therefore, dwelling, worldly dharmas, behavior, upholding the Dharma, living by begging, fatigue from diligence, benefiting sentient beings, and relying on temporary affairs, these are all forms of endurance of accepting suffering.
