and perceiving (women) as land and large female cats. These are the sixty-five faults of women. Similarly, remaining in a household is the staircase to the lower realms, while becoming ordained is the staircase to higher realms. Remaining in a household is bondage, while becoming ordained is liberation. Remaining in a household is accompanied by fear, while becoming ordained is without fear. The Blessed One extensively taught these and other things, so many householders who desired pleasure and fame requested to become ordained. Having granted their requests, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Maitreya and the Bodhisattva Sarva-carya-visuddha: "Noble beings, you two should ordain and fully ordain these householders." The Bodhisattva Maitreya ordained nine thousand householders, and the Bodhisattva Sarva-carya-visuddha ordained seven thousand householders. Then, the powerful householder rejoiced and was delighted, and having rejoiced exceedingly, he generated contentment and ease of mind, and offered a pair of cloths worth a hundred thousand 'ri ba' to the body of the Blessed One, and said: "Blessed One, with what qualities does a Bodhisattva householder, remaining in a household, train in the discipline of ordination?" The Blessed One replied: "Householder, if a Bodhisattva householder, remaining in a household, possesses five qualities, then he trains in the discipline of ordination. What are the five? Householder, a Bodhisattva householder, remaining in a household, gives away all things without looking back, and with a mind possessing all-knowing wisdom, he does not hope for ripening results. Householder, furthermore, a Bodhisattva householder, remaining in a household, practices celibacy and is pure, and does not engage in desire even in his mind, what need is there to mention engaging in the union of two organs or in non-genital acts?" After explaining this, (they) enter into the four dhyanas, strive to benefit all sentient beings, and with the Perfection of Wisdom, they necessarily exert effort, uphold the sacred Dharma, and also lead others to the sacred Dharma. Householder, Bodhisattva house-

If a householder possesses these five dharmas, then he is learning the precepts of ordination. Thus, the five abodes of the Bodhisattva's ordination while living at home are taught. Since the time is also taught in the *Ratnakuta Sutra, the Upali Pariprccha*, the nature of the ritual is easy to understand. However, the ordination of a Bodhisattva means having a mind that knows all aspects. Even if he lives at home, he strives to benefit sentient beings. Therefore, it is different from the words and meanings of the Pratimoksha. In particular, the Bodhisattva's own vows cannot be the basis of the Pratimoksha, because it is also suitable for those who hold the knowledge of gods, nagas, yakshas, etc. Therefore, the distinction of the seven types of Pratimoksha cannot be established. Because its basis is previous practice, and only mental strength is important, like King Indrabhuti. As it says in the *Arya Adana Sutra*: "The habit of faith in the Mahayana, following the Bodhisattva, follows in this way: whether he walks, stays, sleeps, falls asleep, is drunk, or is intoxicated, he will always have faith in the Mahayana. Even if that Bodhisattva gives up this life, in other lifetimes, because of faith in the Mahayana, even if he forgets the Bodhicitta, in those lifetimes he will not become inferior and narrow-minded, and he will not be taken away by evil friends, Shravakas, or Pratyekabuddhas, let alone be taken away by other heretics. For the sake of the Mahayana, even if he finds a small cause for having faith in the Mahayana, it is easier to increase, and he always has faith in the Mahayana. Therefore, following the habit of faith in the Mahayana will also increase in lifetimes, and eventually achieve the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment." As it is. Those who rely on the path of householders, above the precepts of lay practitioners and near-abiding, always protect the two Bodhicittas of aspiration and practice. For the ordained, whatever the precepts of Bhikshus, Shramaneras, and Shikshamanas, protecting the two, aspiration and practice, is their own discipline. Regarding this, the individual
