Being mute and unable to drive away crows, having defects in lineage, and physical defects such as yellow hair and hand deformities, which cause householders to lose faith, should be avoided. The Sutra School believes that one can also be reborn as an animal, and the place for taking vows is limited to lay practitioners observing the Sabbath. The second is the permanent vow, which is the ritual procedure of combining the three training precepts for men and the five training precepts for women, being proficient and possessing the qualities of stability and wisdom, especially from the perspective of what is to be tamed, receiving vows without error from a Khenpo who is free from the three faults of seeing, hearing, and doubting, and who possesses a good nature. Here, it is to distinguish the places of learning. If distinguished, there are two types of lay practitioners. One is to protect one thing, such as abandoning killing. On top of that, abandoning not giving, possessing one aspect. On top of that, abandoning lying, protecting most of it. On top of that, abandoning sexual misconduct and including alcohol, is considered a lay practitioner who fully protects. Abandoning the four root precepts and these five including alcohol, is called a celibate lay practitioner. For this, the Vinaya does not show the ordination ritual other than the complete lay practitioner, so when requesting the vows, say "Please accept me as a lay practitioner," and when explaining the precepts, it is to distinguish the boundary between which lay practitioner and which lay practitioner. Moreover, the vows are generated at the end of the third statement, and the precepts are, after that, stated, do not think that it is an uncertain vow, because the Sutra School may think so. In the four Vinayas, the saying "Please accept me as the lay practitioner of Great Fruit Mother" will not appear. In general, the first two statements have no meaning, and the latter "Please accept" itself has great power, so it is not born from this. At the end of the third statement, it is the statement of the boundary of obtaining all three, so it is considered to be generated, it is the language of establishing the oral instruction based on intention. Regarding this, the Vaibhashika school has four statements: protecting one, protecting one side, protecting most, and fully protecting. The first is, from the four root precepts, abandoning killing or not giving, or.

To abandon any one of wrongful sexual conduct or false speech is to protect one aspect. These also require being humans, as they are part of the country, because they are the leaders of beings. On top of that, adding not taking what is not given and protecting it is protecting one part. On top of that, protecting false speech and the three is protecting most of it. Abandoning the four root vows and alcohol is completely protecting. Abandoning the four root vows and alcohol and the five is a celibate layperson. Among them, although alcohol is placed in the branch, if it is not abandoned, it is impossible to protect all other precepts. Whichever of these is protected, the time is as long as one lives. Among them, the word "half" is added to the four root vows to distinguish between wrongful sexual conduct and celibacy. In the ritual where King Loving's power caused the five Yaksha brothers to take the upavasa vows, non-celibacy is described as wrongful sexual conduct, considering that it is easier for householders to protect. The Treasury of Knowledge says: "Wrongful sexual conduct is extremely reprehensible, not done because it is easy, for the sake of obtaining (merit)." The upavasa is: For those who dwell in a house, it is difficult to practice celibacy at all times, so for the sake of adapting to one day and one night of celibacy, the eight-branch upavasa is taught. Among the ten precepts of the ordained, taking gold and silver is permitted for the sake of raising children. The two, dancing and garlands, are counted as one because of their small faults. The so-called eight-branch vows, constantly protected without interruption, are laypeople like Chandra Gomi. Among them, on top of the ten things that a novice should abandon, taking gold and silver is not prohibited for householders, considering the need to raise children. Similarly, dancing, garlands, etc., are counted separately in the novice's vows, but for householders, they are counted as one because of their small faults. This is what is said in the Section on Earth. In reality, all nine things other than taking gold and silver should be abandoned by those who observe the upavasa. It is only nominally called the eight-branch vow. The Letter to a Friend says: "Do not harm, steal, commit adultery, lie, drink alcohol, be attached to untimely food, enjoy high beds and seats, songs, dances, and garlands, and follow the discipline of an Arhat."

If one possesses these eight branches, the Uposatha vow can grant desirable divine bodies to men and women. Thus, the fruit of a one-day and one-night Uposatha is shown to be rebirth in any of the six desire realms according to one's wishes. A branch refers to a general branch, as stated in the commentary on the "Letter to a Friend." Thus, the discipline of the Nyungne, promising to keep it for one day and one night, and keeping it is the characteristic of self-discipline, as stated in the Abhidharmakosha commentary: "One takes it on the day of keeping it. There is no such thing as taking it the first time and not needing to take it later." Thus it is said. Therefore, laypeople take and keep the vows on the eighth, fifteenth, and thirtieth days of the month, and especially on the four major festivals, hence it is called the "time discipline." If a layperson who possesses the precepts takes them, it becomes an Uposatha, because the precepts nourish virtues and purify sins. Thus, the eight branches of the Nyungne precepts are not taken occasionally, but are constantly kept as the basis of merit, and are called "constant laypeople," like Prince Mahakarunachitta and Master Chandragomin. However, this is not accepted by the Sarvastivadins, but according to the Theravada school,
