Da. Although this is the teaching of the fruition at this time, due to seeing some faults, the preliminary ritual of the four karmas is given. The rest is the way to receive full ordination from not long after the Buddha's Nirvana until the ritual has not yet appeared. Among them, the first seven were those who gave the preliminary ritual, because there was no ritual that fulfilled the four karmas. The current ritual is the same as the activity ritual. Due to the differences between the central and border areas, the number of monks, the degree of difficulty, etc., there are ten assemblies, five assemblies, or four assemblies in special circumstances, as well as completion in two sanghas, and accomplishment in order through activities. Among them, regarding the terms central and border areas, the location is based on India, as stated in the "Explanation of Words": "Likara is a dense forest, the place where Lika trees grow is the east, the mountain called Ushiri is the dark mountain of the north, the city of Kapa near the pillar is located in the west, near the city of reeds, the reed river is the south. The middle of these places should be known as the center, the outer border area is what the infinitely wise one said." Like this. Even so, now wherever the teaching of scripture and realization exists, it is considered the center of the Dharma assembly. Among them, there are two types of precepts: temporary precepts and permanent precepts. The first is that, in general, the basis for generating precepts is that the Sarvastivadins believe that the object of ordination for men or women of the three continents is only a bhikkhu. Moreover, the five types of hermaphrodites, emanations, those with two sets of organs, heretics, those who have committed the five heinous crimes, those not allowed by their parents, those who cannot drive away crows, those with defects in their lineage, those with yellow hair and hand defects, etc., who have physical defects and cause householders to disbelieve, must be kept away. The Sautrantikas believe that animals can also generate precepts, and the object of ordination for temporary precepts is limited to those who abide in the precepts of upasaka and posadha. The second is the permanent precepts, which are the ritual procedures combined with the three trainings for men and the five trainings for women, as well as being proficient and firmly grasping the Vinaya Root Sutra Commentary, the Vinaya Extensive Treatise, the Abhidharma Kosha Root Sutra Commentary, etc.

Those who possess merit, especially from a preceptor who, as the object to be tamed, is free from the three faults of seeing, hearing, and doubt, and who possesses good qualities, should receive the vows without error in the ritual. Here, it is for the purpose of distinguishing the objects of learning. If distinguished, there are two types of lay practitioners. One is to protect one thing, such as abandoning killing. On top of that, abandoning taking what is not given, possessing one aspect. On top of that, abandoning lying, mostly protecting. On top of that, if abandoning sexual misconduct and alcohol, then they are considered lay practitioners who fully protect. Abandoning the four root sins and alcohol and all five, they are known as celibate lay practitioners. Regarding this, the Vinaya does not show a ritual other than that of a fully complete layperson, so when requesting vows, one should say, "Please accept me as a layperson." When stating the precepts, it is the boundary that distinguishes which layperson is which. If the vows arise at the end of the third statement, then the precepts, one should not think that what is stated after that is an uncertain vow. Because the Sutra school might think so. In the four Vinayas, the statement "Please accept me as a layperson of Great Gomo" does not occur. Generally, the first two statements are meaningless, and it is not that the latter "Please accept" itself has great power and arises. When stating the third statement, it is stating the boundary of the attainment of all three, so the idea of "arising" is the language of injecting the key points based on intention. Regarding this, in the system of the Vaibhashikas, among the four types of protecting one thing, protecting one aspect, protecting mostly, and fully protecting, the first is, from the four root sins, abandoning any one of killing, or taking what is not given, or sexual misconduct, or lying, is protecting one thing. These must also be humans as the basis, because they are the main factor of beings. On top of that, adding taking what is not given and protecting, is protecting one aspect. On top of that, adding lying and protecting three, is protecting mostly. Abandoning the four root sins and alcohol, is fully protecting. Abandoning the four root sins, alcohol, and the five, is a celibate lay practitioner. Regarding this, although alcohol is listed as a branch, if one does not abandon alcohol, one cannot protect all other precepts.
