, and, this discipline arises from desire, I do not say that falling is falling. (Translator's note: refers to the Pratimoksha precepts not applying to the Bodhisattva precepts) In accordance with this, the way to determine the absence of the nature of desire is extensively explained in that sutra, and it does not show the mind of renunciation like the Pratimoksha. In general, the etymology of the term "Pratimoksha" is that because of Pratimoksha, it becomes Pratimoksha, which is the establishment of the name of the result on the cause. As it says in "Good Manifestation of the Path": "This path goes to Pratimoksha, so it is Pratimoksha, just as the road to the city is called the road to the city." Or, because it individually liberates from sins, it is called individual liberation or discipline, because it is learned, it is pure and liberated, or it is a vow not to abandon the special liking for perfect merit. Or, because it protects and liberates, it is called protection and liberation, because it protects against misconduct, all afflictions, and evil destinies. And, or because it is an ordinary being, it is the nature of falling, so it is falling, and it is completely bound by karma and afflictions, and wanders in irrational evil destinies, protecting and liberating from that suffering, so it is protecting from falling, that is, the vow to be liberated from that suffering, which is the establishment of the name of the result on the cause, that is, like "the entrance is the happy river is happy." Therefore, there is no other need than to fear that one's own causes of karma and afflictions will cause one to wander in samsara and wander in evil destinies, thereby guarding against falling and liberating from it. The Bodhisattva aims solely at benefiting others, so the name Pratimoksha does not apply to him, but the continuum of the holder of the Bodhisattva's vows is bound by the Pratimoksha vows, and it should be understood as merely establishing the Bodhisattva's Pratimoksha. As it says in the "Earth Store Ten Wheels Sutra": "The pure precepts of the Bodhisattva are of two kinds: common and uncommon. The common ones are the lay precepts, or the Pratimoksha precepts of the ordained, that is, the full ordination. The uncommon one is sentient beings.

Guarding the precepts of equanimity towards all beings, a mind without harm, and a mind without holding grudges. Guarding without looking at all the ripenings of existence. As it is said, it is very clear. Furthermore, there are Bodhisattvas who live at home and have not performed the signs and rituals of individual liberation, but who abide in the training of renunciation, as stated in the "Fierce Interrogation Sutra": A Bodhisattva householder living at home should be skilled in the faults of living at home. Home is called that which destroys the roots of virtue, refutes arising, and overthrows the tree of virtue; therefore, it is called home. Living at home is called the abode of all defilements, the abode of the manifestation of unwholesome roots, the abode where children and untamed ordinary beings are hidden, the abode of those who practice unwholesomeness, and the gathering place of evil people; therefore, it is called living at home. It is said. Home is the place where the paths of words of killing, binding, beating, sin, harming, displeasure, scolding, evil speech, and evil deeds are gathered. Thus, there are endless faults. Similarly, a Bodhisattva householder should generate three perceptions towards his own wife: What are the three? To perceive her as a flesh-eating woman, to perceive her as a Rakshasa woman, and to perceive her as an ugly form. Thus. Alternately combining beginning and end, to perceive her as difficult to fill, to perceive her as bottomless, and to perceive her as ungrateful. To perceive her as a great mother otter, to perceive her as a mother crocodile, and to perceive her as a great mother cat. Thus, there are sixty-five faults of women. Similarly, living at home is the staircase to the lower realms, renunciation is the staircase to higher realms, living at home is bondage, renunciation is liberation, living at home is accompanied by fear, renunciation is without fear. Thus, having extensively taught, many householders who desired pleasure and fame requested to renounce. Having requested thus, the Bhagavan Bodhisattva Maitreya.
