Having generated it, one should act without weariness in the four times. As for the four times, they are clearly shown in the Sutra itself, not boasting of biased and belittling realizations. As taught by the Inconceivable Appearance of a Youth, the past boundary is solitary, the future boundary is unchanging, the present arising is known to be fearful, and the equality of the three times—these are the four. Therefore, when the meaning of the equality of the three times is realized, profound emptiness is absorbed into the heart, and all appearances arise as Dharma and the Guru, becoming the cause for omniscience, which is called the accomplishment of good wishes. Now, in order to show the aspiration for the refuge of merit, which is the fourth wheel, the joy of the seven qualities of the heavens, and leisure and perfection, nobility and health, and the five of samadhi and discriminating wisdom, are manifest signs of reverence for merit in the past. Thus, all the causes for temporarily appearing noble and ultimately certainly accomplishing goodness depend on merit alone. Those who have accumulated vast merit without interruption in the past will now obtain a particularly excellent leisure body endowed with the seven qualities of the heavens, such as good family, form, wealth, power, wisdom, longevity, health, and happiness. As Vasubandhu said: "Desiring various qualities, if there is no seed of effort, there is no sprout that grows. Faults, though only one, destroy many qualities. Longevity, as well as health, form and good fortune, and lineage, wealth and wisdom, are seven." Thus it is said. The joy born from that, as well as samadhi, and discriminating wisdom, and the two that belong to the higher ones, having these five is said to be a sign of accumulating merit in the past. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: "Joy and birth in leisure, as well as health and samadhi, and the cause of discriminating discrimination, are the accumulation of merit in the past." Thus it is said. If explained extensively from the perspective of example and meaning, then all the accumulations of goodness in samsara and nirvana, both increasing and decreasing, are the doers of merit and non-merit, and there is no other doer besides them, therefore...

King named "Born from the Crown of the Head," due to the merit of offering seven grains of beans to the Fully Seeing Buddha, became a Universal Monarch. Although he overcame the power of the Four Great Kings and obtained the power to share half of the seat with Indra in the Thirty-Three Heavens, the wisdom disturbed by sins in the world weakens the pure fruit, which is the law of nature. As soon as a mind of envy arises towards Indra, it is like a shooting star falling from the heavens, and even so, one will fall again. As it is said in the Wish-Fulfilling Vine: "Unfamiliarity destroys wisdom, expanding arrogance destroys wealth, intense hatred destroys goodness, and attachment destroys true sublimity." Therefore, those who have not accumulated merit in the past will go to places where there is no leisure. Even if they obtain a human body, their consciousness tends towards Dharma like dusk, while all subtle increases gather in non-Dharma aspects, thereby destroying wisdom. Some, although they have a little faith, obstacles such as illness and harm arise, and relatives, associates, evil friends, and sinful mentors entice them towards the desires of this life. In short, excessive attachment to wealth and enjoyment, primarily engaging in actions contrary to Dharma, and having no regret for it, destroys true sublimity. Jealousy, intense competitiveness, rigid arrogance, and arrogance arising from lineage, appearance, and power destroy wealth. Because good thoughts cannot abide, always harboring thoughts of tormenting others, even harming birds and wild animals, this is the true cause of the decline of merit, thus destroying all good things. In short, even if one engages in hearing, contemplation, and meditation, it becomes an accomplice to afflictions; even if one accumulates some merit, it mainly relies on fame, or aims solely at eliminating obstacles; or aims at peace and the happiness of gods and humans, and is mixed with sinful actions; or is directed towards impure fields, such as sinful kings, those with wrong views, those who torment sentient beings, and abbots who create sectarian conflicts.
