Therefore, one should completely abandon it. In the words that teach the path of virtue, one relies on it to eliminate suffering, obtains it through reason, is content in heart, and will not be harmed by the faults of non-virtuous livelihood. As it is taught. Not being conquered by the thought of greed, having shame and embarrassment, not obtaining through flattery and subservience, but sustaining life through the practice of begging, this is called reason, and is extensively explained in the Sutra of Pure Livelihood. Thus, the Bhagavan said: Seeing the faults of greed, alas! Separating oneself from the mind of greed, thinking it is good, one should not grieve over it. As it is taught. Similarly, in the sutra it says: The giving of meat and alcohol, the giving of poison and weapons. Thus, the faults of giving in inappropriate places are extensively revealed, what need is there to mention the enjoyer? In the Lankavatara Sutra it says: Great Wisdom, my noble Shravaka disciples do not even eat coarse food, what need is there to mention the forbidden food of meat and blood? Great Wisdom, I have the perception of all sentient beings as if they were my only child, how could I allow the Shravaka disciples to eat the flesh of my child? What need is there to mention eating it myself? That I allow the Shravaka disciples to eat, and that I eat it myself, Great Wisdom, this is impossible. And it says: For the sake of profit, sentient beings are killed. For the sake of meat, wealth is given. Both of these are sinful, imprisoned in places of wailing and so on. And it says: In the Nirvana Sutra, the Angulimaliya Sutra, and the Lankavatara Sutra also say: I completely condemn meat. And it says: In the future, foolish meat-eaters will say: Meat is without sin, it is permissible to eat, the Buddhas have said so. This is the meaning of the special prohibition from the Vinaya Pitaka of the Mahayana, which is clearly shown. Even the three pure meats that can be provided with a source should be abandoned because they are accompanied by doubt, this is the only conduct that should be pursued. In that sutra it says: The three pure meats are those that are not suspected, not requested, and not urged, and are completely absent, therefore meat should not be eaten. Thus it is said. Claiming to be a Mahayana practitioner, but
