A vulture nest surrounded by rainbows. Below it, between the upper and lower umbrellas, is the glorious (726) palace of Bai. Below, at the top of the iron castle, a crest of eagle feathers and silk, with an arrow securing it to the life-tree of the torma, and a silk ribbon tied around the neck of a female vulture, with a life-essence written in vermilion or gold. The chief consort and six sisters have seven sky-blue, rainbow-encircled canopies, adorned with peacock feathers at the top. Similarly, the four Reti sisters have sky-blue canopies. The assembled retinue of female lineage holders generally have one sky-black canopy, adorned with skylark feathers. The six classes of protectors, including the chief protector, have four sky-black canopies, one green, and one red, all rainbow-encircled and adorned with crow feathers. Dorje Lekpa has a black canopy adorned with pigeon feathers. The eight classes of male lineage holders generally have one white canopy adorned with swallow feathers. The eight gods have eight canopies of their natural color or white, adorned with eagle feathers. The eight planets have black, mottled feather adornments. The twenty-eight constellations have six each of green, red, white, and blue, and four yellow, adorned with hoopoe feathers. The ten directional guardians have four white, one each of red, yellow, blue, and black, and two green, adorned with firefly feathers. The nine terrifying ones have nine canopies of either sky-blue or green, adorned with owl feathers. The eight nagas have eight blue canopies adorned with jackdaw feathers. The four great kings have canopies of their natural color, adorned with vulture feathers. (727) Whether rainbow-encircled or of a single color, whatever is convenient, if the feathers are not specifically mentioned, use the feathers of any carnivorous bird, and the method of adorning them, except for peacock feathers, is to split all the feathers in half, one half facing upwards like fragments of a sword blade, and one half bent, adorned with wool and dye on the two sides of the sky. Each of these is equipped with a target, arrow, arrow feathers, male face, female face, and woodcut patterns, in equal numbers. The woodcut patterns here are the sun and moon, rainbow, peach, Mount Meru and the four continents, two cosmic eggs, and the elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space. If these woodcut patterns are not available in equal numbers, then the four large ones erected at the four corners should be added. In addition, the southern substances, northern substances, grains, medicines, and foods generally needed for torma offerings.
