Like water, it abides without impurity, and even in the midst of afflictions, wisdom abides without impurity in the same way. Similarly, in the Uttaratantra it is said: The body of the fully enlightened Buddha is for the sake of benefiting others, and because suchness is inseparable, and because of the presence of the lineage, all sentient beings constantly possess the essence of the Tathāgata. Similarly, in the Root Wisdom it is said: Whatever is the nature of the Tathāgata is the nature of these beings. So it is. Now, if it seems that any ultimate fruition vehicle is acceptable, then what is the special excellence of this place? Garab Dorje said: Great Perfection is the fortress of view, it cuts through the ground and path in an instant, and it is unmatched by inferior lesser vehicles. Thus, the excellence of view and meditation will be shown below. Secondly, regarding the explanation, (493) it is explained by "Where is the agreement with other tenets?" etc. When there is no other place and it is as vast as the sky, the excellent path of non-learning, the ultimate meaning of the supreme, all manifest, and the fruition of the four bodies spontaneously accomplished, the only characteristic of each is the discarding of the impurities of one's own mind, therefore, all the trainings such as the three vows shown above, the six perfections, generation and completion stages, etc., are the steps of the path of Great Perfection. In order to determine the abiding of the ground, here it is said "Here" etc. In this system, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are realized as pure in nature, and because the Buddha has not yet arisen, it has not moved from the expanse, and because confusion has not arisen, samsara has not arisen, so there is no other change, and samsara and nirvana are not established from the beginning, it is the nature of the ground that does not change. That itself is also determined to be the nature of the three: essence, nature, and compassion. As it is said in the Self-Arisen: The essence of that expanse is like the sky. The nature is luminosity. Compassion abides in the heart, and is the basis for all qualities. (494) Without searching, qualities are naturally complete, and abide in all aspects. In that very nature or essence, purity is the Buddha, and impurity is the sentient being, although there is a distinction between samsara and nirvana, this self-appearance is grasped as other, existing like object and subject, but just as in the state of sleep, no matter how one dreams, one does not move from the state of sleep, so whatever

Moreover, it simply does not transfer to the future. Nevertheless, for the time being, the various sectarian views on the way the ground abides are distinguished: the ground is primordially pure, spontaneously accomplished, uncertain, the definitive ultimate truth, all-capable, all-permissive, and the ground that is considered diverse, there are seven in total. Regarding the refutation, establishment, and abandonment of this state, there is a detailed explanation in the Treasury of Precious Words and Meanings, and if you are interested, please learn about it there. Furthermore, there are other views on classification: original meaning, combining meaning, habitual body, and the alaya of various habits, there are four in total. The first refers to, from the perspective of the nature, from the state of the dharmadhatu, the initial moving wisdom, relative to ignorance, from the perspective of distinguishing samsara and nirvana. The second refers to, the moving wisdom itself combines itself with outward-looking ignorance, thereby entering samsara, and combines its own self-nature wisdom with nirvana. The third refers to, because wisdom itself has habits, so the nature of earth is called flesh, the nature of water is called blood, the nature of fire is called heat, and the nature of wind is called the manifestation of the mind-body. The fourth refers to, wisdom itself exists as the basis of various mental habits. However, all of these are just different aspects of the single essence of primordial purity, given different names, holding their own sectarian views. Just like seven blind men describing the birth of an elephant and the color of a swan, they are not reliable ways of knowing. In the Essence Sutra, it says: The king gathered many blind men, showed them an elephant, and ordered them to describe the characteristics of the elephant separately. So, those who touched the elephant's nose said that the elephant was like an iron hook. Those who touched the eyes said that the elephant was like a bowl. Those who touched the ears said that the elephant was like a winnowing basket. Those who touched the back said that the elephant was like a bed. Those who touched the tail (496) said that the elephant was like a rope. The blind men were not saying anything other than the elephant, but they did not fully understand the elephant. Similarly, the Buddha-nature is also said to be emptiness, illusion-like, luminosity, and other different statements, but it is not fully understood.
