Etc. The third is: As mentioned before, in the visualization of the generation stage union, from the seed syllable ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) at the center of the vajra, countless vajras radiate out, dissolve into light, and are visualized in sequence as a protective wheel. In this context, the meaning of various vajras is explained, they have various colors, radiate various rays of light, accomplish various activities, and their horns extend in all directions. Among them, the center is a blue square, and the horns have various colors. Regarding the number of horns, although there is no definite statement, here, in order to destroy the twenty views of the aggregates, as an auspicious coincidence, there are twenty horns. It is complete, like two five-pronged vajras crossed. Now, the structure of the outer tent is explained: The various vajras radiating from the heart essence of the deity fill all directions without any gaps. They bend, melt, and pour into each other, so the entire bottom is a vast and solid vajra ground. On all sides, very tall blue vajras are erected, and all gaps are blocked by vajra dust, arranged like a dense veil inside, so that even the wind cannot penetrate. The shape is like an inverted iron helmet, and the top is decorated with five half-wrathful black vajras with horns pointing upwards. Inside, there is a vajra net, a tent, and a canopy. Outside of it, there is a storehouse of white wheels, as mentioned before. Outside of it, there is a tent of red lotuses. Outside of it, there is a tent of green crossed vajras. In sequence, there are tents of burning jewels, khatvanga, enemy arrows, wooden stakes (meaning like obtaining fruit), clubs, iron hooks, swords, etc. Similarly, the tents of the five elements are: the earth tent is heavy and viscous, and is yellow; the tent of turbulent rivers is blue, wet, and cool; the tent with the sound of fire is hot and burning; the wind cuts like a razor, is green, light, and swaying. Outside of it, there is the indestructible (133), the sky is clear and blue, the originally spontaneously accomplished tent, etc., and countless weapons similar to karma.

Emanating with unimpeded force and a roaring sound, circling in the mind, not to mention obstacles and evil spirits. It dissipates into a state where even the winds of the elements cannot escape. Although these protective wheels are each clearly distinct, their essence is entirely composed of vajras emanating from the previous heart essence. Understanding its nature as the fierce play of the five wisdoms, the protective wheel is none other than samsara and nirvana. Therefore, this is the commonly explained method of practicing the self-front union protective wheel. Within that vast protective tent, from the Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) of the heart essence, a yellow Bhrūṃ (Tibetan: བྷྲཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्रूं, Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) separates. In that instant, it transforms into a yellow ten-spoked wheel, without obscuration or interval, clear and unobstructed. The shape and nature of this wheel are usually understood as flat or mat-like. However, some scholars think that if it is said that way in one's own tradition, there would be the fault of insufficient hearing and observation. If that were the case, the two powerful Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) and Kāra (Tibetan: ཀཱར, Sanskrit Devanagari: कार, Sanskrit Romanization: kāra, Literal Chinese meaning: Particle) above and below would not have a place to rest, which would be too extreme. This kind of practice is very common in both the new and old traditions of Sakya and Kagyu. Therefore, the views of the new and old traditions are consistent. Tsarpa Chökyi explained the Hevajra Lamdre Commentary in this way: 'The weapon wheel, that is, the belly occupies one-third, then one-third is the thickness of the spokes, and then one-third is the sharpness of the tips of the spokes.' That is, the first two are hollow, and the latter tip is very sharp, like a thirty-two-bladed sword. In the Nyingma tradition itself, Götsang Rigdzin Chenpo explained in detail: 'Ten spokes,' that is, there are eight spokes (134) in the cardinal and intermediate directions, and one spoke each above and below. These two spokes are like the iron axle installed on a mani wheel. The spokes of the wheel are not flat, but like cymbals joined together, or like two bowls joined together, with the inside hollow. The spokes above and below are also like the iron ferrule of a spear, with the inside hollow. He said that there is no need to reduce the emptiness sound of Dzogchen. The previously mentioned ten-spoked wheel, which is extremely vast and equal to the expanse of space, has a sun cushion each in the center and in each of the ten spokes, for the root guru Heruka.
