I am the one who enters the Bodhisattva path. It is said that one must first mainly train in aspiration, because our own tradition says: After training the mind in aspirational Bodhicitta, entering will naturally come about. In the general, commonly accepted great commentaries, the extensive classifications of Bodhicitta are divided into seven branches, but here, according to the tradition of Shantideva, the meaning of aspiration and entry is summarized into two concise branches: Aspiration is like wanting to walk, and entry is like actually walking. The Indian teachers, when distinguishing from the perspective of boundaries, consider it to be not seeing the truth, but Omniscient Samyepa said: Wanting to attain enlightenment for the benefit of others is aspiration, and entering through effort is entry, considering them to be the same in essence but different in emphasis. Thus it is said. If the aspirational (111) mind is not generated, entry cannot be accomplished; it is like cause and effect arising from nothing. Thus it is said. However, some people think that the Vajrayana is skilled in means, so there is no need to train and extensively explain the mind of the causal vehicle, which is foolish. Because the root of the Mahayana lies in Bodhicitta, it is extensively explained. As it is said: The distinction of the vehicle lies in wisdom and compassion; otherwise, claiming to be a Mahayana practitioner is like a donkey wearing a lion's skin. Moreover, it can be clearly understood from the direct expression of the scriptures. Furthermore, in these situations, if emptiness and compassion are not combined, it will become a detached, one-sided path, unable to become a pure path. In the Emanation of Manjushri it is said: Separately contemplating emptiness and abandoning sentient beings is also the work of demons. Discerningly examining with wisdom and focusing on great compassion is also the work of demons. Thus it is said, from the clear perspective, although it appears as the sound of compassion, from the perspective of emptiness, there must be no attachment. Third, introducing the nature of what is to be purified and what purifies: The general what is to be purified is refuge and Dharma, the specific is: from beginningless time, harboring ill will towards others, and applying the mind of enlightenment in a reversed manner, etc., all minds and mental factors are what is to be purified, and the yoga of the mind of enlightenment is what purifies. These two in union

Practice is the ultimate bodhicitta, or, in another way, the bodhicitta that is inseparable from samsara and nirvana. The third branch, the seven branches, has two parts: the actual practice and the benefits of the general summary. First, there are seven items. First, the branch of prostration (112) has four parts: the object, how to prostrate, why to prostrate, and the benefits of prostrating in this way. The first is the field of merit that was just mentioned. The second is to transform one's ordinary body to fill the sky, and together with all sentient beings pervading the sky, with great reverence of body, speech, and mind, and with the faith of 'You know,' and then prostrate with the five limbs. From their body, speech, and mind, immeasurable rays of light arise and dissolve into our own body, speech, and mind, thinking that sins and obscurations are purified. This is the first branch, the antidote to pride. The third is to think that all sentient beings, including myself, are blessed by the body, speech, and mind, and that the two kinds of siddhis are easily bestowed. Then, prostrate with the verse, "The great Vajradhara Lama, the embodiment of all Sugatas." The fourth is the benefit, as it is said in the Tantra of the Magical Net: "Whoever pays homage with the three doors, prostrates to the body of the Victorious Ones, their merit in this world, if it had form, would not fit." So it is said. Second, the branch of offering has four parts: superior offerings, unsurpassed offerings, thinking of both for the benefit of beings, and their benefits. The first is the actual offerings that are available, such as the flowers of goddesses, which are outer offerings, and medicine, alcohol, and torma, which are inner offerings, and the bliss of melting bliss and emptiness, which are secret offerings. In short, offering with all things that are particularly excellent in arrangement and worthy of offering. The second is the offerings manifested by the samadhi of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, such as those arising from the conduct of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. All of these are offerings that arise from that (113), and there is no other offering that surpasses it, so it is called unsurpassed. By offering in these two ways, viewing that the field of merit is pleased is the second branch, the antidote to miserliness. The third is for my own merit alone
