All liberations and characteristics have been definitively established. Nevertheless, the merit of mindfulness increases more and more. Eventually, the object of mindfulness naturally exhausts, the Dharma naturally exhausts, and the great ground beyond mind is liberated. An example of this is: when making a clay sculpture, if there is no wet clay at first, the basis for the creation cannot be established. Ultimately, if the moisture does not completely disappear, the meaning of the creation cannot be accomplished. The Vajra Top Tantra also says: 'A galloping horse has the reins of mindfulness, like an elephant subdued by a hook. Just as a wild horse is tamed by reins, galloping is tamed by mindfulness. Mindfulness purified is wisdom.' Furthermore, the supreme yogi asked: 'When one becomes a Buddha, what will this awareness become?' He replied: 'The purification of the mind's mindfulness and conceptualization is wisdom.' (827) He was asked: 'Does wisdom possess mindfulness?' He replied: 'What are you saying? Mindfulness is the mind of sentient beings; wisdom is beyond mind.' Therefore, the Prajnaparamita, which is free from all elaborations, with its inconceivable wisdom, destroys the view of form as self, the view of self as inherent in form, the view of form possessing the nature of self, and the view of self possessing the nature of form. Similarly, for feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness, the twenty views of the aggregates are broken down by dividing them into four categories, and the acceptance that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, transcending conceptualization, seeing it like the expanse of the sky, is the samadhi that transcends the world, because it is free from the five aggregates. The practice of integrating this experience with the wisdom of discriminating awareness in all post-meditation states is the Dharma. By what awareness is it destroyed that form is not self? If it is not a similar cognition, it would be absurd to fall into non-discrimination. The second view is also not valid. What power does the self have over form, etc.? Because we see that they cannot be taken or abandoned, and they will perish even against our will. Similarly, it is also not reasonable for the self to exist in form as its inherent nature, like the head and feet of a puppet, because the self cannot manipulate form in any way according to its wishes. If form exists as the inherent nature of the self, then like selflessness, external forms, etc.

How to eliminate the obstacles to the path of seeing? If you want to know its characteristics in detail, you should learn from the extensive commentary on the "Letter to a Friend." The so-called "self-mindfulness" is the antidote that uproots even the seeds of afflictions. After practicing in this way, the clinging to the experience of the wisdom of discriminating awareness, or these dharmas that realize the subtle and coarse impurities of the eight consciousness aggregates, should not even be remembered. Do not even think about it, thinking that remembering in this way will become extreme remembrance, and whatever obscurations become extreme intention, all that is free from dust and views (828), is eliminated by the non-conceptual wisdom of the noble one's path of seeing, therefore, in the Prajnaparamita Sutra it says: 'Whatever is without remembrance and without intention is the Perfection of Wisdom.' The meaning of this sutra has actually been expressed, and on one's own path, one has obtained the name of the mindfulness of the limbs of enlightenment, therefore, the appearance of mindfulness is established as wisdom. If speaking from the self-nature of the Great Perfection's pith instructions, the object to be abandoned and the antidote do not coexist, therefore, conceptual mindfulness is not allowed to enter. Because of self-knowing, mindfulness does not help. Because of abiding in self-liberation, mindfulness will not bind again. Because there is no basis or root, there is no need to rely on the mindfulness of the antidote. Because there is no examination of the essence, mindfulness naturally disappears. Because the calculation of the nature of reality has been completed, mindfulness naturally dissipates. Because there is no confusion in wisdom, the wisdom of mindfulness will not establish a foothold. Here, in the Stages of Meditation, it says: 'Even if there is no remembrance and no intention, if there is no accurate discrimination, how does one enter the selflessness of all phenomena? Even if all phenomena abide only in self-emptiness, if there is no discrimination, one will not realize their emptiness.' And so on, the characteristics are very different, therefore, establishing mindfulness itself as an object of discriminating awareness, and clinging to that side, the solid that is very famous in the snowy mountains, and all the views that have attained accomplishment from that path are not correct. There are many who say such things. Only the Bhagavan knows the Middle Way of the abiding state of things, and its ultimate state is also the Dharmakaya, therefore, if its characteristics contradict the knowable objects of discriminating examination, then here, with the establishment of the debating schools, holding one's own view as supreme, and denigrating others, is not being free from extremes.
