All the prescribed trainings must become companions to the mind of arising renunciation. As it says in the Mindfulness Sutra: Monks, in the mountains, caves, cemeteries, and places without cover, meditate on the body composed of bones and so on! Do not dwell in carelessness! Do not regret it when you die later! This is my last advice to you all. Because these are the last words. If there is no mindfulness, there will be no one to practice diligence and carefulness. Even if one has the courage of King Ashoka with armor-like diligence or the three ancestral lords, which is like covering the sky and the earth, one needs to encourage oneself to enter the path of practice by countering the laziness of cowardice, disharmony, and dissatisfaction. That thought is mindfulness. Without mindfulness, things will become distant and long. Either one will be harmed by enemies, demons, thieves, or life-threatening things, or one will not be able to complete that task. Therefore, all those who lose mindfulness fall into the abyss of laziness. In particular, as the Dharma of a practitioner, it is necessary to maintain mindfulness and awareness in all four modes of conduct. At the time of the Blessed One's Nirvana, the disciples made four requests: After the Blessed One's Nirvana, who should we take as our teacher? What should we take as the Dharma? How should we subdue the group of six monks? How should we establish the scriptures at the time of the compilation of the scriptures? The Blessed One replied: After my complete Nirvana, you should take mindfulness and awareness as your teacher, and pure discipline as the Dharma. The group of six monks does not need to be subdued, they will be liberated on their own. At the time of compiling my scriptures, at the beginning, say, 'Thus have I heard, at one time.' At the end, praise and rejoice in the words spoken by the Blessed One. He said. Therefore, saying 'Thus have I heard' at the beginning as an introduction is to repeat the Buddha's teachings completely and without error. This is also because when listeners listen to the Dharma, they must generally abandon the three faults of the vessel, the six stains, and the five faults of non-retention, and in particular, obtain the dharani of non-forgetfulness.
