It is crucial not to dwell on faults and behaviors. Here, in the Bodhisattva Pitaka, two points are mentioned to remember: the patience of practice and the patience of understanding the Dharma. The first is: In the presence of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, if all sentient beings repeatedly come and insult, speak unpleasant words, utter rude and vulgar language, or strike with stones, sticks, and weapons, even then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to perfect the paramita of patience, should not generate even a little anger or harbor malice. In general, for those poor sentient beings, they are tormented by the karma of afflictions, I should not generate a mind of hatred towards them, for it is because I have taken these aggregates that have become enemies! Thus, generate compassion for them. The second is: Due to one's own distracted mind being influenced by delusion, appearances become mixed with objects. Grasping the harmer as the harmer leads to the power of mutual dependence increasing. As a remedy for this (817), it is said: If those sentient beings are truly without inherent existence, then who is there to insult me, speak unpleasant words, utter rude and vulgar language, or strike with stones, sticks, and weapons? All conditioned phenomena are like illusions. Dependent on space. As it is said, like self, sentient beings, life, goers, གསོབ། etc., one should view the nature of conditioned phenomena and illusion. By nature, the praise and blame of ignorant beings is not because they see merit and know how to praise, nor is it because they recognize faults and are certain to blame, it is just the sound of voices clamoring. Mostly, it is the inner turmoil of being unable to bear the wealth and perfection of others. When some enter the practice of a Bodhisattva, hoping that servants and friends will enter the Dharma, or when they are embraced by the profound rituals of the Mahayana and Mantrayana, because the wishes of others are controlled, they utter all kinds of mockery, which is like the story of the sage speaking of patience.

Do not be deceived by wealth for the sake of later attachment, and do not be bewildered by mantras, people of Tibet! The time for taming the objects of taming has arrived. When appearances are under control, in the sutra of skillful means, it says: When a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, in order to ripen young women, the Bodhisattva acts as a servant. The Bodhisattva dwells in a hut and ripens forty-two thousand women. It is also said like that. Just as a beautiful girl of low caste developed attachment to Ānanda, and (the Buddha) transformed her into a Bhikṣuṇī, and those who heard of this slandered him, (these actions) are not without meaning. Or, as an example of taming beings through skillful means, like Vimalakīrti of the Licchavi clan, who, as a householder, possessed inconceivable courage and immeasurable liberation, so that even the two supreme ones (Buddha and Maitreya) could not match him. Such activities of taming countless beings are incomprehensible to ordinary people. Therefore, if Bodhisattvas do not especially cultivate the courage of patience to endure slander, beings will fall into poverty, and the helpless will lose their refuge. And some, considering themselves great or holy, pile up precious scriptures, like quoting the example of "seeing coral without seeing a Monpa person," disrespectfully taking a little Dharma as the standard of their own realization, and hiding the Lamas who have attained the qualities of abandonment and realization as if they were of a bad caste, instead attaching themselves to and following (evil people). For those who become a great obstacle to their realization, one should generate special compassion and uphold the firm vow of patience not to repay kindness. Similarly, the patience of firm conviction in the Dharma comes from remembering the Three Jewels, and the patience of accepting difficulties comes from remembering the lineage of past lives and the biographies of holy beings, so guarding mindfulness is essential. Similarly, the essence of diligence is the mindfulness or desire to be very happy with the work to be done. When the Teacher (Śākyamuni Buddha) was passing away, he took Ānanda's hand and said, "Guard my treasure of Dharma with these three: desire, diligence, and mindfulness." The desire mentioned here is the repeated remembrance of the ultimate goal of the task to be accomplished. Diligence is the practice, and mindfulness is the action. Why? The Teacher
