Some people don't even know if they understand in their own minds, and they also consider the benefits of hearing to be causally severed, and they are people with such direct realization. Like this, rather than extensively learning the common inner and outer studies of grammar, logic, craftsmanship, etc. (798), hearing the Dharma is more pleasing and more beneficial, as it says in the Jataka: When the young prince was young, his heart only craved the Dharma, and he heard that for the sake of the Dharma, he would give away priceless clothes and jewels, so he developed a great craving for finding someone bound by all kinds of worldly bonds. Without understanding anything, he learned a verse from someone else that contained the name of the teacher, and said to the prince, I am also a teacher of Dharma. Although he understood the nature of not understanding anything, because the verse contained the name of the teacher, he developed great faith, and in order to hear that fool recite a verse, he even threw his own body into the abyss. Therefore, one should rely on virtuous spiritual friends and virtuous friends, and listen to the Dharma in all circumstances, and even regard someone who is slightly smarter than oneself as a spiritual friend, and strive to listen to the Dharma, as it says in the Jataka: After crossing the fire and the edge of the knife, seek the true Dharma until death. Fifth, reading: The excellent Dharma is the nature of the Three Jewels, the essence of the two truths of cessation and path, and is the two teachings of scripture and realization, and its image exists in the form of letters, so the books that collect letters are the treasury of the twelve parts of the scriptures of the teachings, and by learning through its sounds and words, even if our teacher does not live in the world, the real teachings can still be heard now, and its main cause is the reason that arises from the aggregation of the consciousness and root consciousness of the person. The Manjushri Illusion Sutra says: A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most excellent of all letters, it is a sacred letter of great meaning, it arises from it, there is no birth (799), it has abandoned words, it is the root of all words. Thus, the mother of letters A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) itself, which arises from the combination of wind and mind, gathers from different positions such as the tip of the tongue, teeth, palate, and lips, thereby producing vowels and consonants.

arises from the sound of. Moreover, names arise from the collection of letters, words arise from the collection of names, and meanings arise from the collection of words. Therefore, all mundane truths are understood through the cause of letters. From the blessings of the letters, the profound Dharma of realization, which transcends speech, sound, and words themselves, is transferred to the consciousness of the practitioner, thereby purifying the defilements of the five aggregates and eight consciousnesses, and accomplishing Buddhahood. This is the most fundamental of all needs. Even if one only keeps these principles in mind, one should regard this scripture as the embodiment of all the excellent Dharma, and with utmost respect and reverence, place it on a throne, spread a clean cloth, and arrange offerings. One should bathe and remain clean, recollect refuge and the Three Jewels, and precede with the seven-branch offering and other rituals. Interspersing with phrases such as "Namo, the language of the gods, the language of nagas and yakshas," and also avoid idle talk during listening to the Dharma. When reciting, do not repeat or interrupt, keep the speed moderate, the pronunciation clear, and the voice pleasant. The benefits are immeasurable, as stated in the Prajnaparamita Sutra: "If someone hears this Dharma discourse and does not abandon it, then from that basis he will accumulate immeasurable merit. What need is there to mention someone who writes, receives, recites, reads, comprehends, and extensively and correctly teaches it to others?" Furthermore, "Subhuti, this Dharma discourse is inconceivable and incomparable, and its ripening result should also be understood as inconceivable." It also says, "If someone writes, copies, causes to be copied, reads, listens to, or upholds this Dharma discourse," from this one can also understand the benefits of other aspects. Although this is the case, the results will vary depending on the goodness or badness of the reciter's motivation. In the past, a householder in a remote area placed a scripture on the roof of his house. When he went to the mountains, he saw many people with the appearance of Shravaka Arhats gathered near the scripture. He was very pleased, but when he returned home, those people were gone. He developed firm faith in the Dharma and offered a horse as Dharma support. Later, he invited another reciter, but he kept thinking, 'When will he come to ask for payment?' This thought constantly arose in his mind, so...
