Those who are attached to the world, ignorant, and extremely foolish, having become free by the power of great compassion, completely abandon all doubts such as fear, shyness, and extreme dread. Like a small child nestled beside its mother, they focus on the activity of eating with an extremely relaxed demeanor. Due to a strong habituation to the nature of ignorance, they uncontrollably close their eyes, develop a dull perception of themselves, and then sleep, and so on. After a while, like after water has been sprinkled, awareness, the all-good (747), becomes absorbed in emptiness, which possesses all supreme aspects, and abides in the state of equality between samsara and nirvana. Beautiful form, clinging sensation, sharp perception, peaceful volition, and clear consciousness—these five "guests" with different names come to take the offering and then return. Among them, the most important consciousness has not yet left, but comes straight to my face, gazing intently like a vain woman looking into a mirror. It neither closes its eyes nor does it leave, but in a very intimate and trusting manner, it stays close to me for a long time. At that moment, I felt an unbearable compassion for that gentle creature. Like a young bird separated from its mother, I involuntarily shed tears. It also looks at my face, wanting to wipe away my tears. At this moment, my own sorrow also intensifies, and so I say: Alas! You sentient beings with bodies are so pitiful! In general, all sentient beings in the three realms of samsara are obscured by the root of ignorance, and are in a state of dependence on the combination of various conditions. Especially the sentient beings of the animal realm are so pitiful! They have to endure the suffering of being driven and used. In particular, the sinful butchers and the like, as well as hunters, fishermen, and other professions, are without any sense of shame. If they see the scene of slaughter, or even just think about it in their minds, they will involuntarily tremble with fear, and tears will flow from their eyes like rain. You have beautiful peacock-like feathers, your neck is as beautiful as a string of white lotuses, your tail has colorful rainbow patterns, your limbs are like real lotuses, and your melodious singing is pleasing to the ear. Even if you have these, you are ignorant of what to accept and reject, and you cannot understand speech.

Speech is ineffective. Alas, the ignorant animal! Though your form is beautiful and your fur is splendid, you are ultimately the food of cruel beasts (748). Life is as fleeting as morning dew, impermanent and unreliable. Explaining karma to it is also incomprehensible. It has lost the opportunity to hear the true essence of the Dharma. How sad, to be born in a state of no leisure. The expanse of awareness, the unmade city of Kuntuzangpo. Attachment to external appearances fades without brilliance. In the clarity of compassion's arising, your animal mind and the yogi's, the self-shining essence of reality merge into one. The sound of speech, emptiness, the sound without arising or ceasing. With the swift path of profound dharani mantras and the aspiration of hearing liberation, connect in sequence. In general, the people of the world harbor great malice. Therefore, your appearances arise with suspicion. In the realm of aimless, effortless liberation, your alaya consciousness's imprints mingle. How pitiful, to abide in peace and contentment. In general, all sentient beings are parents. Especially you, have a karmic connection with me. Even so, there is no way to measure your kindness. With the offering of meager tsampa, you still cannot escape from the city of samsara. In the intention of the ground, the Tathagatagarbha, there is the key instruction to subdue with compassion. Now, in the groundless, rootless reality, relax your mind and abide there. Having said this, merging his mind and his own awareness into one, he remained in the state of the ground of reality's liberation for a long time. It still squatted with its eyelids lowered, motionless, not showing any sad words or expressions, the seed of bodhichitta moistened with tears, holding his breath, his heart even more compassionate, thinking: Even such an animal knows the nature of good and non-good thoughts, purifies pure appearances, and takes refuge, how amazing! Judging from this, who are the beings to be tamed among those who can speak (749), understand meaning, and have no leisure? The great omniscient one said: Bound, oath-breaking, behavior extremely bad, not weary of samsara, without the slightest faith, not virtuous, committing evil deeds, not thinking of the Dharma, violating vows and commitments, are called those who have severed their roots of virtue. Those who dwell in the ranks of the eight states of no leisure with a confused mind.
