Wrote many mantras and prayers for stabilizing the tree, smeared with special sacred substances, including the countless tantras of the early translations, such as the three sections of Sutra, Illusion, and Mind; representing the Blissful Vajra, the Three Secrets, and the Wheel of Time, the root mantras and near-heart mantras of the secret mantras translated in Tibet; the vast categories of sutras and mantras represented by the five great Dharanis; wrote tens of thousands of the six-syllable mantra and the Vajra Guru's heart essence; at the top, relics of the Tathagata like mustard seeds; in the neck, the great mountain of bliss and emptiness with the syllable "A"; inside the vase, a statue of the venerable Manjushri made of red sandalwood; a statue of Padmasambhava made of red copper; statues of Jowo Rinpoche and the Omniscient Great One made of medicinal clay; the speech support is the Vajra Cutter Sutra; seven miraculously discovered yellow scrolls of treasure; the mind support is the Great Bodhi Stupa; the merit support is the robes and hair relics of countless great and holy beings, filled in precious kapala bowls; the activity support is the blessed vajra kīlas; according to the Indian ritual of Master Jowo Nyari, the order of consecrating the stupa is preserved intact, hanging the life-tree on the trunk without seeking support from below. Erected upright from the top of the ten virtues, in two ways of stainless (689), when performing the ritual of stabilizing the life-tree according to the tradition of Abbot Shantarakshita, a rain of flowers that could be held fell profusely, and all that appears and exists becomes the sole offering tree of the Tathagata's complete form, and also enjoys the appearance of infinite purity. All the spaces above, below, inside, and outside of these are completely filled with hundreds of thousands of images of Protector Amitayus, and from these auspicious objects, any sentient being who serves and makes offerings, circumambulates, will temporarily obtain longevity, the stability of politics for purifying sins, and ultimately receive the supreme prophecy of being reborn in the blissful realm of Sukhavati. In particular, for the vast activities of external and internal interdependence, starting from the connection of the three doors, all have great significance, in the Sutra of Distinguishing Liberation, the Buddha gave teachings to the Brahmin youth Ne Tso. There are eighteen benefits of building a stupa of the Tathagata. What are these eighteen? To be born in a royal family; to have a good appearance; to become beautiful and pleasing to the eye; to become a support; to be praised in the ten directions; to desire the vast manifestation of sounds and verses; to be worshipped by gods and humans; to become wealthy; to become long-lived; to have a body like a collection of vajras; to have a body adorned with marks and signs; to be born in the higher realms; and to quickly attain complete liberation from suffering. These eighteen are the benefits of building a stupa of the Tathagata. In short, this land within the snowy mountains, which was once a great place unfit for practice, now, thanks to the kindness of the three Dharma Kings (690), and through the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings, has Dharma and practitioners of Dharma. Even fools like shepherds know how to utter simple words about virtue and vice. Those who, fearing the dangers of samsara and the lower realms, know the Three Jewels as their refuge, should cultivate respect for these sacred objects and recognize them as the source of all happiness and well-being. Regard them as gurus. Regard them as images. Regard them as objects of offering. If you do so, what kind of merit will you obtain? As asked by the sage Gyaspa, it is the same as honoring the actual Victorious One. "Great sage, the benefits of making offerings to the Bhagavan who has passed into complete nirvana and to the one who is currently residing are the same. They are equal and identical," I say. Why is that? Because the Tathagatas are not supremely great because of the Dharmakaya, but because they are supremely great because of the Rupakaya. Whether one makes offerings to me while I am residing or after I have passed into complete nirvana, because the mind is the same, there is not even a slight difference in merit between these two. Thus, until the task of accumulating such a collection of virtuous jewels is completed, the Tathagatas of the ten directions, together with their sons, will unceasingly gaze with eyes of joyous wisdom from the expanse of reality.
