This image of the Lord Hayagriva appearing as a gathering of thoughts and deities, crafted by Gyalsay Tenpai Nyima, is so perfectly formed that no dust settles on its face. It is widely known that warmth, like the heat of a horse's breath, emanates from its heart. By praying to it or even touching it, one is freed from the harm of malevolent yakshas, curses, possessions, madness, and so on, as well as the harm of flesh-eating demons and the diseases of malevolent planets and nagas. It is said to possess qualities that fulfill all needs, even surpassing a wish-fulfilling jewel. Thus, from the royal lineage of Zahor, like a Shing Sala tree, from the noble lineage like a lotus stamen (628), a jewel on the crown of gods and humans, one who has mastered the all-seeing wisdom, a pandita learned in the five sciences, a king who turns the wheel of dharma, protected by the seven precious treasures of limitless vehicles, established the victorious teachings in this land in a state free from all animosity, and proclaimed the tradition of the two great chariots as the oral instructions of Manjushri. When the great Fifth Dalai Lama, whose fame was unmatched even as far as the Ganges River in India, was ill, he restored and made offerings to the feet of this Hayagriva, and his illness was cured. When he set foot in this place, he also saw the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche in person. He abided in the dharma, seeing the wondrous arrangement where the outer, inner, and other three are interdependent. All the regents of Tibet offered unsurpassed service. In this protector's chamber, which is like a cool grove, reside the five Buddhas in the form of emanated bodies, Jetsun Drolma, the various mother goddesses of one kind, the six-armed Mahakala, the Dharma King Songtsen and his two noble consorts, along with the two emanated ministers. In the ancient assembly hall, endowed with the life of Yeshe's decree, the slayer of the three poisons, the glorious Yeshe's protector, the black eunuch Mahakala with his retinue of joyful and wrathful deities, arose from the cinnabar mark on the forehead of the great treasure revealer Guru Chokyi Wangchuk. His lineage disciple, the fortunate Yarlung Tulku, one of the five victorious ones, the son of Chodenpa and the charnel ground dweller, Menlungpa Shakya Zhonnu, wrote this by hand. Yeshe
