Abandon the lazy people, the king listens to flattery, the ministers are unjust, and the queen likes to gossip. These three are the stirring sticks that disrupt the state's power. Although the lion eats wild animal meat, it only indulges in desire once a year. Although the people are the glory of the king, if taxes are repeatedly collected, they will decline. For the greedy and insatiable bad retinue who are like donkeys, secretly inflict torture by not giving them food. Even blacksmiths do not have such punishments. The place where one obtains one-sixth of the tax is only respected by the people. If the laws are not enforced justly, it is lending money at high interest to the people. Mountains are the burden of the earth, but they do not have inferior manifestations. Those who bear the burden of not repaying kindness, how can great power bear the earth? People like to buy things, and women like to steal food. Both of these equally lead to the ruin of the family. Power is only a scale for measuring weight. Some people, after seeing the wealth of others, develop very strong jealousy, but not only do they not get any benefit from it, they also completely destroy their own merit. Those wealthy people who are bound by stinginess, because they harbor hostility towards the objects of offering and generosity, many have become hungry ghosts who emit five kinds of sounds. The evil words that untamed people speak from their mouths, if they extend a deceitful tongue, will become a disease that pierces the hearts of others, which even a famous doctor cannot cure. If harm has come to oneself, one should rely on the medicine of patience. Among the ascetic practices that do not cause youth to decline, patience is the best. Lay practitioners, even if they do not have merit, should diligently learn to have a kind heart. Like the wind helping the fire, in order to accumulate virtuous dharmas. Friends who are like beggars are rare. Do not speak empty words without giving, and there is no treasury like generosity, even in the almsgiving of food to the helpless. Obtaining a family is not easy, and obtaining parents is even more difficult. If one knows the special merit of respecting parents, one can be liberated from the cliff of wrong views. If one focuses on harming others, what is the use of practicing celibacy? Honey held with a blade will only cause harm and will not bring nourishment. Seeking ways to defeat the enemy will eventually exhaust life. If one can tame the mind that wants to be close to the enemy, one will obtain one's own happiness. As long as one has not obtained contentment, one will always be troubled by wealth.

In the end, the mouse diligently accumulated, haven't you heard that it died of starvation? Honesty may be weak for a time, but its nature will not change. Even if the sun is obscured by clouds, it will immediately become brighter. The discipline of the Arhats cannot be found in lay life, respect the eight precepts and the lay vows. Compared to debating with other practicing sects, and the mantra practitioners using spells, it is obvious that the virtuous benefit others. Even if a vow is broken once, if there is no intention to conceal it, it can still be restored, but if one always harbors evil thoughts, the only destinations are the three lower realms. It is not enough to merely understand the scriptures, cherish respect for the precepts. Devadatta offered five fire oblations, haven't you heard? Even if a noble person declines for a time, they will find a way to recover from it. Even if the full moon is obscured by Rahu, it still strives to illuminate the four continents. It is not enough to merely reside in a monastery, examine the four qualities of a practitioner. Desolate secluded places, are they not occupied by wolves and foxes? Wherever there is compassion, there is definitely the seed of liberation. Everywhere there are people of good lineage, only appearing to be monks. Even if one possesses the seven precious jewels, they cannot be taken away at the time of death. Relying on the seven noble riches, many are reborn in the eight freedoms. Act according to the Dharma and subdue the senses, and one is not far from becoming an Arhat. Subdued by the Dharma but covered by sin, such a person is not the banner of liberation. The seven merits that increase from wealth are the means to accomplish it, if one claims to be holy but covets the wealth of the temple, it is very bad. Do not measure the noble ones by the faults of ordinary people, isn't it like the old toad in the old well laughing at the turtle? If one does not examine everything before acting, even showing off is not a hero. The blood stolen by the cat is licked by the old dog staggering. Even if you really crave wealth, fill the treasury with honest behavior. If you know how to use it well after filling it, you will gain the glory of protecting yourself and others. As long as you can see others, do your best to help them. This intention and action without hypocrisy is truly achieving your own benefit. Oh King
