Unfailing. When the time of gathering arrives, it will naturally ripen into fruit. Thus, whether one has accumulated and not created, or created and accumulated karma, whether small or large, even the smallest part accompanies one like a shadow. When the time has not yet come, one must bear it alone, and one should repeatedly contemplate this, taking and abandoning without reversal, and constantly think about it. Also, one should not think that only great deeds can do this, and that small deeds do not accumulate obstacles. As the Vinaya Sutra says: Even small sins, do not despise them thinking they are harmless, even small sparks of fire, can burn a pile of grass as big as a mountain. As it is said, one should be extremely careful even with the smallest parts of non-virtuous deeds, and if one is involuntarily stained by force without intention, one should immediately confess with such profound key points of the four powers. (281) Third, purification by antidote, if one practices great virtue as an antidote to small non-virtue, then the fruit of non-virtue will be afraid and unable to harm. For example, when Jowo Je was the abbot of Vikramaśīla Monastery, Maitrīpa relied on his own possessions a little, and Jowo Je expelled him. That night, Jowo Je dreamed that Maitrīpa was a Bodhisattva, and as a result of being expelled, he would be reborn as an incarnation who could circle Mount Sumeru three times. When asked what the benefit would be, he replied: It would be beneficial to give seven salts each day, and it would be beneficial to go to Tibet. For the sake of temporary guidance, such a special Bodhisattva, even for small defilements that are not voluntarily stained, also needs to rely on such antidotes. Thus, the son of the Teacher, who was blessed to be born in the womb of Grahazinma, the incarnation of Vajrasattva, Rāhula, in his previous life as a king, had a hermit fast for six days, and because his mother offered a silk vase in her previous life, he stayed in the womb for six years. At the time when the Teacher became enlightened, unless Rāhula devoured the moon at the same time, he could not break free from the calyx of the womb, showing the way to experience the fruition.

Therefore, since the karma of us ordinary beings seems to have no end, do not be satisfied with the slight good deeds that are merely mixed with wrong livelihood, but always strive to rely on the power of remedies from body, speech, and mind, and always be diligent. Fourth, if none of the above three are possessed, then it is the karma of experiencing the result: for example, the monk Tharpana Po experiences the suffering of the extremely hot hell (282), the extremely cold, like a lotus bursting open, revival, black line, collection, crying, great crying, hot, extremely hot, and uninterrupted hells, as well as the unbearable suffering of the hot and cold hells such as the blister hell and the blister bursting hell, eighty intermediate kalpas are counted as one great kalpa, twelve thousand great kalpas like this, and then reborn as a hungry ghost, experiencing the suffering of hunger and thirst for six great kalpas. If one relies on the power of remedies, then all sentient beings, including oneself and others, cannot escape the end of this karma, which is very frightening and worrying. However, these friends of the present time do not remember even a moment of virtuous deeds, and fearlessly enjoy the property of the Three Jewels and the Sangha, as well as the offerings of the faithful. Whoever is skilled in deception and other cunning behaviors is regarded as a hero. Those who are ashamed and virtuous men who are in accordance with the Dharma are regarded as dumb and blind. This situation is due to the simultaneous flourishing of the power of the five degenerations, and even the rope of compassion of the Buddhas becomes short. When the power of each person's own Vipaka karma is strong, even in this life, it will not be long before it is surrounded by the near-taking, and there will be a state of difficulty in breathing, squinting eyes, no water in the mouth, extreme weakness, and being at a loss. At that time, there will be great regret, but it will be too late, and consciousness will enter the bardo like an arrow shot. The heavy burden of Vipaka will follow like a shadow, never separating. Alas! In this way, it merges into the Dharmadhatu. Third, among the four methods of confession mentioned above, this treatise mainly explains the two methods of eliminating sins by relying on the power of remedies (283) and eliminating sins by relying on confession. The former is:
