It means to make victorious. As it says in the Uttaratantra of the Guhyasamāja: The mind is said to be "man" (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思). "Tra" (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) means to protect. It is liberation from worldly conduct. And so on. Secondly, in the Middle Treatise on Discriminating Languages, it is said that Tantra (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) is said to be the name of continuity. As it also says in the Vajraśekhara: Tantra is said to be continuous, it is desired as a revolving lineage, Nirvana is the family of Tantra. Therefore, in terms of the meaning of what is said, the Tantra is related to all times and places of means and result, and it is the continuous non-duality of wisdom. Fourthly, it is certain that it is a synonym for the treasury of vidyādharas, or the vehicle of secret mantras, the vehicle of vajra, the vehicle of result. It is said that what should be abandoned, such as afflictions, is purified in its place, and that special praise is given to the means of attaining what should be accomplished. As it says in the Supreme Vidya: In pure attainment, true yoga, it is called mantra because of supreme praise. And so on. Secondly, the detailed explanation is divided into two: the establishment of the new translation school and the establishment of the old translation school. Firstly, because it has been widely explained elsewhere, it is not directly explained here. However, it can be understood from the implication of the following sentences. Secondly, the establishment of the old secret mantra is divided into two: the general display of distinctions and the detailed explanation of secret mantras. Firstly, if combined with the order of vehicles, there are nine vehicles. As it says in the Root Tantra of Magical Illusion: Discipline, Sutra, Abhidharma, vows, practice, and accomplishment, the Tantras of body, speech, and mind. Thus, it shows the three vehicles of cause and the six vehicles of result, thereby turning the wheel of Dharma and summarizing everything that is shown. That is also in terms of the increase of tranquility, in the Sound Theory it says: The way of speaking has three intentions, antidote, collection, and the meaning of power, words are collected and made manifest, words that are not that, the victors of the three times have not spoken. Thus, in terms of antidote, it is eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma. In terms of collection, it is the profound and vast Vajrayana. In terms of power, it is the two worldly vehicles. The past three, the essence of these are all included.

All the deceased are led into the house of stages, in which are established limitless ways, but for the moment it is unbearable to convey them in a few words. Second, to explain the nature of mantra in detail, there are two parts: the outer conduct tantra and the inner method tantra. The first part: Because it mainly emphasizes abiding in cleanliness and the actions and activities of body, speech, and mind, it is in accordance with the three lesser vehicles of the emanation body. Therefore, it is called outer conduct. As a great Dharma belonging to the category of mantra, its basis, path, and fruit are established as a continuum because they are interconnected. There are three divisions: Kriya, Upa, and Yoga. The first is also shown through four aspects: sound meaning, tenets, path, and fruit. First, the sound meaning is: Kriya, meaning mainly performing the actions of body and speech, and Tantra, meaning connected to the tantric series. Second, the tenets are: considering the conventionally appearing illusions as defilements to be purified, considering the nature of the ultimate non-illusory realm as the basis to be purified, and considering entering the nature of non-existence as the basis to be realized, thereby acknowledging the deity of self-purified nature. Third, on the path: by knowing all conventional appearances as the nature of the six deities, the yidam deity is practiced as the lord of wisdom being, and oneself as the servant of the samaya being. In the ultimate truth, one enters the clear light of the unborn nature of phenomena. The six deities are: the mere appearance of the deity's body is clear as an illusion, not abiding in the extremes of one and many; speech is the sound of the deity's syllables, the wheel of reciting emptiness; mind is focused on the hand gestures, clear as the deity of mindfulness, thought, and samadhi; emanation and absorption are clear as the body color, liberated as the deity of light; clarity is the deity of the way of dwelling, clear as the seat, throne, and attire, liberated as the palace; liberation is the deity of wisdom, clear as the dharmakaya of appearance and existence, the abandonment is liberated as wisdom. In short, purify the six attachments to the six objects, and by knowing the appearance as the six deities such as the form deity, one purifies afflictions. Fourth, the fruit is: temporarily, the qualities of view and samadhi go higher and higher. Ultimately, it is believed that one becomes a Buddha inseparable from the deity in sixteen lifetimes, i.e., Vajra.
