It is very common to say that liberation arises by looking at dependence. In reality, regarding one thing as two contradictory entities in practice turns one into a meditator who establishes a foothold on arising and ceasing. As the Kunjed Gyalpo Tantra states: "If one does not recognize what has been done as past, and strives to achieve, looking for accomplishment, there is no greater obstacle to enlightenment than that." So, what should it be like? The so-called self-nature and power are only mentioned as the main points when distinguishing the basis of delusion and the appearance of delusion. Once awareness is recognized, in the state of knowing the suchness of insight, it is like a river and waves, or a mirror and reflections. It is merely the characteristic of a single thing changing its form. Whether it appears, arises, abides, or engages in conceptual speculation, at any time, grasping the naked, bare awareness itself severs the connection of the three times' thoughts. This is called the Dharmakaya's self-abiding state, each being the self-knowing wisdom. As the Sixth Space Tantra states: "Whoever does not pursue the past, does not welcome the future, and leaves the present awareness to dissolve on its own, all awareness merges into one without before or after, called one gathering, with a single essence, which is the yoga of awareness in the equality of the three times." The mindfulness here is not grasping mindfulness, so awareness does not rely on a support. Ignorance refers to distraction, forgetfulness, carelessness, and confusion, so the confidence of insight is not pure. Buddha is awareness, so it should be understood that severing the connection of the three times does not require any fabrication. Like this, through familiarity with the three methods of settling, the fourth, like Mount Meru, arises naturally. When the mind abides in the state of Dharma-nature and gains unwavering confidence like a mountain, various conditioned appearances cannot shake it like the wind. As the Letterless Tantra states: "Settling like Mount Meru is the secret view, without doubt, movement naturally ceases." In short, the natural state of Dzogchen is: the view is perfectly accomplished, cause and effect are pure and undefiled, truth is indivisible, grasping and being grasped are naturally pacified, arising and ceasing are completely purified, not scattered outward, not grasped inward, not left in between, not fabricated by the mind, not knowing that the method of distraction is delusion, and self-knowing in the midst of delusion. Everything spoken is self-contradictory, so it disappears in the path of words. Everything thought falls into elaboration, so one cannot acknowledge self-nature.

It should be practiced in this way. In the Mirror of the Heart of Vajrasattva, it says: 'Know that all the dharmas of awareness are free from the mind of self-grasping.' Even so, those who rely on dharmas made by the mind may feel fear towards such a meaning. The Condensed Sutra says: 'Having destroyed and abandoned conceptualizations, one goes to the other shore.' This intention also lies in entering the self-born teacher who has not yet fully comprehended a single aspect. If one becomes accustomed to such a key point, not seeking the practice of the expanse, as soon as the shell of the illusory body is broken, awareness will soar into the sky of the Dharmakaya, and the Garuda of the Form Kaya will effortlessly and spontaneously accomplish the benefit of beings to be tamed. In the Perfection of the Lion's Strength, it says: 'In the very bodies of all sentient beings, there dwells the essence of pure wisdom. It is not able to appear extensively, like the barrier of the womb and the egg. Although it is obscured without appearing, it arises when its own strength is perfected. As soon as this body of conceptual thought is abandoned, it will meet with its own appearing realm. The very self-awareness that has always been present, its essence without thought, will be seen. The appearance of pure wisdom and the truth of the Buddhas will be seen. The essence of the self-appearance of wisdom is without the conceptual thought of the mind. The past realm and the future realm, their appearances are directly cut off.' Thus it is. If one does not understand in this way, then the way to introduce the experience of knowing that confuses Dharma and the individual, combined with one's own experience. In the Root Awareness, there are three introductions of mind, which are the ways to return from delusion, and twenty-one introductions of wisdom, including awareness and self-appearance. The first is, in the Adornment of Introductions, it says: Emaho! By introducing appearance as mind, the mind is tamed. By introducing mind as emptiness, emptiness increases in bliss. By introducing emptiness as awareness, awareness itself is inseparable from the expanse and wisdom. As it is said. First, although it is not like the Mind-Only school's assertion of true existence, the mind grasps the self-characterized object of appearance as mind. For the object, first, the mind that appears in the measuring mind, and then, in the subsequent mind that distinguishes its differences, it is determined as the grasping mind, thereby cutting off the root of what is to be abandoned and cultivated from the object-consciousness of self-liberation. The Root Wisdom says: On the mind that is the object, there are various appearances.
