Appearances are seen. In the Transcendent of Intellect it says: "Through the direct appearance of dharmata, It transcends the path of mental discrimination. Through the increase of experiential appearances, The appearances of delusion subside, And the wisdom of the bardo manifests. Through the appearance of perfected awareness, It transcends the path-appearance of conceptualizing the three kayas. Through the appearance of the exhaustion of dharmata, The continuity of samsara in the three realms is severed." Thus it is said. If the Buddha is liberated and buried, The appearance of oneself will be realized. Because the elements revert to oneself. There, the Buddha is awareness. In the time of sentient beings, because it is accompanied by the pervasive activity of the path of awareness, the mind that thinks there is a Buddha other than awareness, along with the eight aggregates of consciousness, is liberated into the nature of awareness and buried, that is, the root of ignorance reverts to awareness, so that henceforth there will be no unknowing of delusion. If that happens, because appearances are realized as dharmata, the essence of the elements reverts to itself, and the disintegration into atoms and so forth occurs. If all phenomena are burned in fire and poured into water, The self-appearance of awareness will be realized. Because wisdom acts upon meaning. There, dharma is samsara and nirvana, or all phenomena that appear as grasper and grasped and are deluded, and the reality that is not realized by outsiders whose awareness has reached cessation, are also burned by the fire of wisdom, and all philosophical tenets that are labeled as dharma are destroyed. The guru's instructions are lost. Even the form and wisdom are not established. That is, the phenomena have reached the point of exhaustion, and the limits of one's own tenets are also destroyed. At this time, the guru's instructions are lost, The limits of view, meditation, and action are exhausted, The appearance of the dharmakaya does not exist. The continuity of form and wisdom is severed, There is neither Buddha nor sentient being. In short, nothing remains, There is no going and no coming. Thus it is said. If all sentient beings are liberated at once, Appearances will vanish. Because the true meaning of compassion does not cease. At that time, the body of trekchö dissolves into atoms, the light of tögal appears, rises into the body of great transference, and the activity of liberating all sentient beings of the three realms into the realm of unborn dharmata is never interrupted. In particular, the beings of the bardo, three thousand beings in accordance with their aspirations, are liberated without remainder, and Buddhahood is attained in the youthful vase body of dharmata.

The lineage of Kagyü is unbroken, as stated in the "String of Pearls": Because the outflows are exhausted, it is not with substantial things. Because things are exhausted, it abides in emptiness. Non-duality, non-increase is its very nature. Being separate from dharmas, it transcends the path of means. Being non-conceptual and clear, movement is purified. Non-duality of matter and awareness, two accumulations are perfected. So it is. Afterwards, from the four post-meditation instructions: First, establishing the foundation on the three immovables: If one severs one's own life, then one will meet with the realm of dharmata. Because the lamp is adorned with five lights. Thereupon, the body does not move from the posture, thus cutting off the life of the channels and winds. The eyes do not move from the way of seeing, thus holding the appearance of the realm of dharmata. The mind does not move from non-fabrication, thus causing the lamp to appear as an ornament. As it is in the "Reversal": By establishing the foundation on the three immovables, the wind and mind arrive at the essential point. So it is. Second, measuring with the three abidings: If all beings are gathered into self-control, then one will become powerful. Because wisdom has no attachment. The body does not abide in activity, but the essential point of abiding gathers the winds and mind under control. Thereby, the power of abiding in unwavering awareness increases, causing the increase and decrease of the eight consciousness aggregates to cease. Because wisdom has no attachment, it causes appearances to abide without wavering, thereby causing the pure realms to reach their limit. Third, when the signs appear in the three doors: If all the assembly of deities is imprisoned in a dungeon, then accomplishment will be near. Because awareness is universally vast. That is to say, by maturing the body through the empowerment of the vase with elaborations, the blessings without effort enter the body, and the time of the manifestation of dharmata appears. Thus, from the interdependence of slow pulses, the assembly of deities gathered by the aggregates, elements, and sense bases is trapped in a dungeon, like the body being placed in a tortoise shell. Because the pulse is slow, the wind does not move from its own place, becoming like a mute. Thus, because both the channels and winds are slow, the movement of the mind ceases, and the awareness of the ground, the nature of the lamp of self-born wisdom, sees the dharmata that is separate from all elaborations, which is the noble truth. As it is in the "Vast Expanse of Clarity": Seeing awareness directly, by the place of seeing the truth, it is not the reversal of the three realms. So it is. Those who do not understand in this way think that original purity and spontaneous presence help each other.
