is transcendence. In short, all the causes and results of transcending suffering are the realm of practice for those who see the self-manifestation of awareness. All that appears to be examined in this way by the mind that clings to its own characteristics, all that appears to exist, all that appears not to exist, all that appears, sounds, sees, meditates, acts, all clinging, discrimination, and afflictions, are all that appear as objects of thought. In short, all the dharmas of samsara are the mind that clings to its own characteristics, and are all the self-manifestations of the six types of beings. So it is said. Therefore, in the "Noble Eight Thousand Verses," it is also said: There is no mind on the mind, the nature of the mind is luminosity. And, in the "Uttaratantra," it says: Because the nature of that mind is luminosity, you see that afflictions have no essence. It should be understood that saying it is a great realm is also consistent in meaning. Therefore, in the path of Dzogchen Nyingthig, by realizing naked awareness, there is no sharpness or dullness in the faculties, and by maintaining the continuity of that awareness without interruption, the stream of self-arisen wisdom will not be cut off, and because the radiance of awareness is clear in the manifestation of the faculties, it does not depend on conceptual analysis, and because the awareness that transcends mind and thought is realized as exhausted, it does not rely on the wisdom of hearing and thinking, and because awareness is chased and increased, the view, meditation, action, and result are realized as artificial. As it says in "Striking the Vital Point": The heart essence is definitely gathered, the faculties have no sharpness or dullness, the mind's discrimination exhausts words, it is not wisdom that sees with the faculties, the nature of words is not seen, the meaning is not accomplished by the common vehicle, because the three bodies are the manifestation of the path, seeing this does not reverse the three realms, because all dharmas are equal and of one taste, the base, path, and result do not depend on each other. So it is said. To this special philosophical conclusion, those who are prejudiced and cannot understand say: Without mind, it is an inanimate object, when the mind ceases, awareness also ceases. To think so is that we have not exhausted the meaning of the Buddha's words, and that seeing, meditation, and action cannot transcend the mind, therefore we vow to see the reality of the nature of reality that is not mixed with the eight aggregates of consciousness. Even without mind, the nature of mind is luminous wisdom.

Because it exists, how could the nature of awareness cease? In the Noble Heap of Jewels Sutra, it says: It is also separate from mind, intellect, and various consciousnesses, and it does not abandon the state of samadhi. This is the inconceivable secret of the Tathagata's heart. How should one speak of this? Thus, mind is all-pervasive thought, the nature of samsara, so it is said, "There is no mind on mind," which is gathered into the establishment of the ground. The nature of mind is free from elaboration, the nature of nirvana, so the nature of mind is luminosity. This is because the establishment of the essence is reasonable and clearly distinguished. Therefore, the characteristic of mind is the nature of intellect and other consciousnesses, so it is the impurity to be purified. The characteristic of awareness is the nature of co-emergent wisdom, the pure fruit. Saraha also said: When the impurity of the mind is purified, it is co-emergent. At that time, there is no entry of opposing factors. The distinction between mind and wisdom is also made by him: In the assembled gathering, the mind is distracted by all elaborations. There is no moving or entering, its nature is stable. The essence of mind is well placed between itself. The mind, like a madman, is free from action. Wisdom, unpolluted by extremes, that is what should be cultivated. So it is said. Those who have not clearly distinguished this characteristic. I prostrate to the mind like a wish-fulfilling jewel. It seems that some people mispronounce this single line. Its meaning is that it is said to prove that the mind is the pervader of the Tathagatagarbha. Mind itself is the only seed of all things. Samsara and nirvana arise from it. Knowing this by examining it. If you do not want it that way, then immediately. If the mind is bound, it will be bound. If it is liberated, there is no doubt. By what is the fool bound? The wise quickly liberate themselves with it. Because they have not seen the meaning of what is said, they should still strive to rely on solitude. If we distinguish from the perspective of what is pervaded and what pervades, awareness has the obscuration of mind, so it is called sentient being. The mind itself is liberated into awareness, so it is called Buddha, because it abides in the same ground. Awareness pervades awareness, so even the ignorant who are the nature of sentient beings have awareness.
