The aspect of the alaya is mixed with sleep, and the grasping and fixation of mind and consciousness exist invisibly like sprouts. The latter is the distinction of realizing the liberation of samsara and nirvana through awareness when thoughts and reflections have vanished. As it is said in the "Lion's Strength Perfection": The alaya is the root of mind, and self-awareness is the root of objects. The basis of similarity has a great difference. Ignorance appears as mind, and awareness appears as non-conceptual. The basis of similarity has a great difference. In short, in all the vehicles of the eight consciousnesses, momentary thoughts that have never existed before are taken as the path, like bubbles in water. The manifestations of skill or play are made into various means of abandonment and cultivation, and freedom from the defilements of the mind is considered wisdom. The Ati Great Perfection, which directly reveals awareness, does not stir up the nature of awareness by the waves of ignorance and the eight consciousnesses, but truly establishes the nature of awareness. Various means of abandonment and cultivation, like drawing lines on water or the arising of bubbles, are not relied upon as the path, but the abiding awareness of the ground is directly cultivated. As it is said in "Self-Arisen": The example of awareness and ignorance is like water and lines, dependent on conditions. The example of mind and awareness is like water and bubbles. It is said that it is not controlled by the mind. Its meaning is explained by relating the example and the meaning: Although mind and awareness are similar only in the state of non-conceptuality, awareness is empty of inherent existence, while mind swirls and is ignorant like a whirlpool. Awareness is like the moon in the empty sky, clear to the bottom, while mind is like the fifteenth moon, mixed with objects. Clarity without objects is the quality of awareness, while complete mixing with objects is the characteristic of mind. In this state of equipoise, mind and awareness are similar only in the state of non-conceptuality, but the nature of awareness is emptiness, free from obscurations, not dependent on mind, and beyond view, meditation, cause, and effect. As it is said in "Lion's Strength Perfection": Awareness is spontaneously accomplished without cultivation. By cultivating, I cannot find myself. Self-arisen, naturally unmade, by contemplating, I cannot see myself. Dharmakaya, naturally free from extremes, by observing, I cannot see myself. So it is said. Mind is related to intellect, therefore it cuts off the proliferation of the four extremes, and clings to the view that has been cut off in this way, therefore it abides in the inconceivable nature, like a whirlpool.

It gathers and is ignorant like a water bubble. If skill and discernment are used in practice, dividing it into seer and seen to accomplish cause and effect, it will harm the lamp of intelligence that has the nature of dualistic grasping. As stated in the "Six Spaces": "View is the impurity of the mind. In the stainless, pure nature of reality, it is separate from seer and seen. There is no seeing in the view itself. If there is a view, the lamp of intelligence will disappear. Therefore, in Ati Dzogchen, there is no nature of holding a view. In Ati Yoga Dzogchen, it is said that there is no result to be achieved. The result is uncreated and self-arisen. In the state of non-thought, the Tathagata abides." Furthermore, intelligence is like the moon in the empty sky. Although the clear, intrinsic light is not diminished in the slightest, the display of wisdom's skill does not enter the realm of mental consciousness. Therefore, it is called the wisdom of one's own intelligence. As it is also stated in "Praise to the Mother Who Holds the Grahas": "Ineffable, inconceivable, and inexpressible Prajnaparamita, unborn, unceasing, the very nature of space, the sphere of activity of self-cognizant wisdom." The mind is like the light of the fifteenth moon mixed with the appearance of objects. Because discriminating knowledge arises in the realm of memory and thought, the close perception of mental factors is mixed with the objects of the five senses. As stated in "Perfection of Skill": "Mind and wisdom are not the actual substance of habit. Although wisdom becomes separate from all habits, the mind accumulates various habits. If mind and wisdom are not distinguished, the root of the appearance of objects will not be severed. Even if the nature of reality, free from conditions, is pure, it is difficult to realize." Moreover, the mind follows intelligence, but intelligence does not follow the mind, and therefore is not under the control of the mind. Some say that since conceptualization can be an object for those who see the truth, conceptualization is knowledge. This explanation is merely a superficial view, just an empty echo that is not initially tainted by experience. Here, in the aspect of not conceptualizing self-born wisdom as an object, the self-abiding intelligence is spontaneously present. Although clarity does not cease from the pure essence of intelligence, which is not an object, I do not think about, discern, or grasp the nature of objects. Therefore, in one's own face, the appearance of objects is like the reflection appearing in a mirror, material.
