The fact that object appearances do not establish as self-characteristics from the single, same essence is the merit of awareness. The consciousness that appears on objects is the mind of samsara, because it does not transcend the aspects of grasper and grasped. Therefore, both calm abiding that focuses single-pointedly on emptiness, and insight that analyzes it, no matter what term is established, whether union or non-union, because the object of grasping is closely enjoyed there, it does not surpass worldly meditation. Therefore, if awareness is directly recognized and one knows how to relax in its state, then the adventitious stains of the mind, not established as the nature of awareness, naturally dissolve, purify without a trace, and will not be stained by habitual patterns. As it says in Rangshar: The appearance of awareness itself, transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation. The inexpressible, completely pure dharma, transcends the extremes of is and is not. The very nature of no negation and affirmation, transcends the extremes of grasping and attachment. Immaculate, luminous, spontaneously accomplished itself. And as it says in Kunjed: Self-born wisdom does not conceptualize objects, therefore, it is not stained by the habitual patterns of conceptualization. Likewise, awareness is self-abiding wisdom, not relying on the means of meditation, free from sinking and excitement. The mind is single-pointed on the object of focus, related to samadhi and support and supported. Although awareness appears on the object, it is not overcome by appearance, still like falling into a muddy pit. The mind is mixed with the aspect of taking up conceptual thoughts, with the parts of grasper and grasped. Although awareness does not abandon the mind itself elsewhere, because mind and awareness do not coexist, the afflictions that are the same as object and appearance, self and essence, also flee together. Therein, the self-abiding wisdom of awareness is a special insight, therefore, even though object appearances do not cease on the face of awareness, awareness itself does not perceive on the appearance. It does not rely on the method of restraining the mind in the state of meditation. Since it is not restrained in this way, all abiding and moving are controlled by awareness, and even the harm of sinking and excitement cannot overwhelm it. Meditation that makes the mind the path, how it focuses single-pointedly on the object of focus, and also the union of view and meditation like support and supported, that itself becomes an obstacle to awareness, becomes a breeding ground for nourishing conceptual thoughts, and is of little power, difficult to perfect.

In the Tantra of Great Primordial Wisdom Equal to Space: "Samten (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Samādhi,禅定) has no basis of consciousness, Great Perfection, Vipassanā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Vipaśyanā,毗婆舍那) and Rigpa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,vidyā,明) two, are similar and mistaken, and go astray." Thus it is said. Likewise, although Rigpa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,vidyā,明) arises in the field, its own essence and power are inseparable, so do not examine outwards. Do not investigate inwards. The nature of reality that is not placed in between, is nakedly free from elaboration, and because it does not change into anything else, it is not overwhelmed by the splendor of appearances. For example, even if mercury is placed in a tube of fine ash, it will not be stained by even a little dust. As it is said in the Kunje (All-Creating King): "The object to be known is, because it arises from Bodhicitta (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,bodhicitta,菩提心), it is the objectless Bodhicitta (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,bodhicitta,菩提心), because it arises from the self of wisdom. Therefore, Samten (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Samādhi,禅定) is not practiced. Because Samten (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Samādhi,禅定) is not practiced, the habit of Samten (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Samādhi,禅定) will not be accumulated. The nature of reality without habit is said to be the intention of the Buddhas of the three times. The intention of all the Buddhas of the three times does not conceptualize objects, but abides in equality from the beginning." Thus it is said. When mind appears on the field of appearance and Rigpa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,vidyā,明), if it does not recognize its own nature, it becomes accustomed to being lost in the field, so the dualistic grasping is defiled, and the conceptual thoughts and various appearances that increase in power are the agents of approaching, as it is said in the Six Spaces: "Self-awareness is free from thought, and the various feelings that arise from the mind, are similar, similar, but mistaken. The perfection of wisdom's own power, and the various memories of the mind, are similar, similar, but mistaken." Thus it is said. If we distinguish between mind and wisdom from the perspective of function and naming, then the mind that gathers like water grasps the four of memory and thought. The mind that relies like a support gathers various aggregates. The mind that goes like fire manifests and acts on the field. The mind that is light like wind moves everywhere, so mind is established as the nature of ignorance. From the perspective of realizing the unborn state, the undiminished memory of non-cessation, the blending of unchanging example and meaning, and the self-perfected reality not yet separated, mind itself is established as the nature of Rigpa That is, in the Six Spaces it is said: "Alas! Great-hearted one, Rigpa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,vidyā,明) and the nature of mind arising from Rigpa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,vidyā,明) are free from all defilements and conceptual thoughts."
