If it is said to be permissible? Because obstructing the cause also obstructs the result, so one does not accept sudden defilements, because the self-nature of the Tathagatagarbha is free from defilements. As it is said in the Klóng drug pa: 'The essence is primordially pure in itself, it is not reasonable for sentient beings to be in samsara, because the defilement of ignorance is completely exhausted.' This has been shown. The former lamas held the tenet of primordial purity, while Lhaje Zur Chungwa held the tenet of spontaneous accomplishment, so there are various explanations in the old texts, but the oral instructions of thorough investigation, Theg mchog rin po che, are authoritative. Secondly, it is also unreasonable to consider the ground to be spontaneously accomplished, because if it were spontaneously accomplished, it would not change like the color of coal, so there would be no cause for separating samsara and nirvana; if it were samsara, because ignorance is accomplished on the ground, it would always revolve and could not be liberated; if it were nirvana, it would also be spontaneously accomplished as nirvana from the beginning, so it would not depend on the conditions of the two accumulations such as knowing one's own nature. As it is said in the Klóng drug pa: 'The spontaneously accomplished manifold ground, is not the true ground itself, if it were, it would become like this: these sentient beings, through effort, would not become liberated, because they are defiled by ignorance. If it is said that they are liberated because of the presence of awareness, then would the result not become liberation as well? For example, black coal, even if cleaned, cannot be transformed into white. Because the cause and the result are different, or it is not spontaneously accomplished. Similarly, if the cause and the result are the same, then effort becomes unnecessary. Therefore, is the meaning of the so-called spontaneously accomplished ground tenable or not? Kuntuzangpo said to me (referring to Padmasambhava): The great bodhisattva spoken of by the teacher, just as your understanding, this is merely a knowable dharma, not the true essence.' Thus. Thirdly, it is also unreasonable to consider the ground to be indeterminate, because if this indeterminate ground is the ground from which samsara and nirvana arise, then after the defilements are purified, it will also revert to being impure, or the impure will also become the nature of purity, because it is not fixed, so it will become any situation. If this is accepted, then some sentient beings will also be liberated effortlessly, and the Buddhas will also fall into samsara and experience suffering, therefore samsara and nirvana.

The state of will also become chaotic. In the "Six Spaces," it says: "The uncertain base is proclaimed, but this also does not hold as a base. My own understanding is like this: Is the result established in turn? Or will it become something with annihilation? The uncertain becomes certain, and the uncertain becomes certain. One's own uncertainty exists within oneself, and if it is certain, it is like the limit of karma. Are these not knowable? The Buddha said it just like that." So it is said. Fourth, it is also unreasonable to consider certainty as the actual basis of meaning. If it is thought that certainty comes after realizing that base, then before realization, there must be a base of realization, Nirvana, which is the same as the eternal view of the heretics, and contradicts the idea of being liberated from causes and conditions. If it is a base even without realization, then how is it known to be a base? If it is said that it is known because the nature of samsara is Nirvana, then if the nature is Nirvana, there is no need for primordial liberation, just as the nature of water does not need moisture, endurance, or adaptation. As previously stated: "The proclaimed base of certainty is not the true essence. For example, to those who have gold, a conch appears yellow. With the difference of self-annihilation, self and other are non-dual, free from the limits of certainty. Therefore, that is also not true. Or because the cause is certain and the result is certain, it becomes no different from the eternal self. Are these not knowable? What was said is the same as above." So it is said. Fifth, it is also unreasonable to think that anything can be transformed. Is it transformed into permanence or impermanence? The permanent cannot be transformed, just as the sky cannot be cut. The impermanent does not need to be transformed, because even if it is not transformed, change is the nature of phenomena. Therefore, if the base can be transformed, the result will become the cause, matter will become awareness, and awareness will become matter. As previously stated: "It was previously said that it can be transformed, but if one's own state can be transformed, this is also the same as uncertain. Because the result becomes the cause, there is no need for effort. Because of annihilation again and again, matter becomes awareness, which cannot be transformed. Are these not knowable? What was said is the same." So it is said. Sixth, it is also unreasonable to think that anything can be promised, just like promising that a rabbit's horn and a barren woman's son can perform samsara and Nirvana, etc., which will eventually
