The aspect of the ground appearance dawns as clear light. The spontaneous appearances dawn as clusters like forms, and as wisdom like light, the appearance of the four unions. The appearance of spontaneous preciousness has the gateway of both samsara and nirvana. If one recognizes one's own nature, it dawns as compassion, non-duality, and liberation at the end, and by gathering the play of energy into the ground, one is liberated. If one does not recognize it, the ground appearance dawns as delusion and one wanders in samsara. Therefore, since samsara and nirvana are one in the nature of awareness, the difference between buddhas and sentient beings is only whether or not the appearance accords with its own nature. Whether it is the time of initial delusion, the time of practicing the path, or any of the three states of the bardo, if one identifies the key point of how the ground appearance arises from the ground, then just as a dream dissolves when one awakens from sleep, one should recognize the key point of going to the liberation of the expanse of samsara and nirvana. Similarly, the way the radiance of the ground appearance dissolves into the ground is also: if one recognizes one's own nature, it dissolves through the power of liberation; if one does not recognize it, it dissolves through the power of delusion. It is like the light of clear crystal struck by sunlight following the presence or absence of the sun, or like a dream dissolving into sleep. When those aspects of appearance disappear without anything remaining, it is called returning to the original radiance. It is not that it came from somewhere else in the beginning, nor that it went to somewhere else in the end. From the Tantra of the Heap of Jewels: "The qualities of awareness itself, or the eight ways in which the play of energy dissolves, the spontaneously established, unfixed ground, the qualities in this way are such that compassion itself dissolves into compassion, in its own essence it dissolves into itself, in a way that leaves no trace, it passes into the realm of non-action. Since it does nothing at all, all actions cease. Since what has not been done does not appear as being done, all conditioned things are in the realm of purity. That itself dissolves into itself, it has not gone elsewhere. For example, in the heart of the sun, its own rays dissolve into themselves, with its own radiance and together, all that is seen ceases. All of this is a precious quality, it does not abide in faults, it is in its own place. Since one's own light dissolves into oneself, this also dawns as a great quality. In the purity of one's own essence, the object of clinging to signs ceases. Even the coarse outer four elements do not appear here, and clinging is reversed. In the great emptiness of self-purity, the clinging to color and self ceases. This also has not gone elsewhere.

Without. The nature of oneself is utterly pure, The clinging to grasping at characteristics ceases. Even the gross outer four elements, Do not appear here, so clinging recedes. From the self-pure great emptiness, The grasping at color and self is pacified. This also has not gone elsewhere, By self-merging into one's own nature, All appearances are pacified. The mandala of light self-merges, Like a rainbow in the sky itself, As it vanishes into the sky itself. In the expanse of the great indivisibility, All clinging attachments are pacified. This is also a precious quality, Such is the manner in which qualities arise. Wisdom itself into wisdom itself, By self-merging into one's own nature, The grasping thoughts, memories, and conceptions of consciousness, In the expanse of the self-abiding equality, All are non-dual and pacified. Even the appearance aspects of individual wisdoms, In the center of the uncreated expanse, Are pacified without ceasing. Because that itself merges into itself, All the various plays of wisdom, Merging into one's own original face, Like a mother embracing her child. Confidence in one's own wisdom, One's own nature is pacified. This is also a precious quality, Again, the way qualities merge, As the body itself self-merges into the body, All forms, in the great non-conceptual, Are pacified without appearance. The elements gathered by the gross, And the ignorance grasped by the subtle, etc., Are pacified without distinction. As the bodies merge into their own face, The arising aspects of consciousness do not scatter outwards, Like the form of a vase, The inner clarity and the outer flowing phenomena, Abide in a place without self-nature. This is also a precious quality, Again, such is this quality. Non-dual, non-dual, self-merging, All the clinging to grasping at numbers, In the single, free from elaboration, Even in the manner of two becoming one, Are pacified in the self-merging nature. As dualistic appearance self-merges, Like a river into a river, Like merging, they are indistinguishable. Pacified in the great indivisibility. This is also a precious quality, Such is the unceasing quality. The liberation from extremes into the liberation from extremes, As one's own nature self-merges, All the self-continuum grasping at the three bodies, The bodies are exhausted and pacified. As the two extremes, self-pure, self-merge, Like the sky into the sky, Like merging, there is no identification. The conceptual clinging of the four extremes self-ceases, Pacified in the great non-abiding. This is also a quality
