That is, from the Essence of Earth: The nature of solitary liberation, is because the many are of one taste. Thus it is said. Although from the aspect of the nature of reality, the basis for distinguishing between one and different does not hold, from within the shell of the intellectual sphere of the established tenets posited by knowable and knower, the wisdom of individual self-awareness emerges nakedly, hence it is called the wisdom of a single bindu. From the Letterless (Scripture): The single bindu is without elaboration, the distinctions of mind are beyond expression. Thus it is said. Therefore, if one knows the characteristic of the first four modes of liberation according to the faculties of individuals, that ultimately all phenomena of samsara and nirvana will be transformed into the vast expanse of great emptiness, because they are liberated into the single nature of one's own awareness, it will be like knowing the characteristic of a single fire, and knowing the taste of a single piece of jaggery, one knows that everything is sweet. From the Commentary on the Mind of Enlightenment: The nature of fire is heat, the nature of jaggery is sweetness, likewise all phenomena, are one in their nature of emptiness. Thus it is said. Such individual self-awareness is the domain of wisdom, therefore it is the manner of transcending defiled mind. Whatever awareness transcends mind, is the special quality of the Great Perfection of self-nature. Those who realize are liberated as awareness from the ground, sentient beings who do not realize wander in that very state. If distinguished by aspects, like water and water bubbles. Thus, from the alaya, all the parts that collect the aggregates of consciousness are mind, that is, the consciousness mixed with objects, appearing as the two, grasper and grasped, therefore it is what creates samsara. From the Self-Arisen: Grasping onto objects is mind. Thus it is said. Awareness is the nature of the Sugata-garbha, abiding without wavering from its own unelaborated original state, therefore from the beginning it is the nature of the Dharmakaya, not established in anything, not conceptualizing anything, not abiding in anything, therefore it is beyond the defilements of mind. From the Rosary of Pearls: If mind is separated, that is Buddhahood, the defilements of all embodied beings are exhausted, sentient beings go by mind, without that they cannot go, therefore sentient beings are like a turning wheel. Thus it is said. Also, in the stage of the path, even if mind is grasped as merely self-luminous and non-conceptual, and awareness is grasped as merely without object, the two are similar in being merely non-conceptual, but the former is the alaya.

The former is mixed with the subconscious, and the grasping of consciousness seems to exist invisibly, while the latter is the difference that consciousness, without memory and thought, realizes the liberation of samsara and nirvana. As it is said in "Lion's Roar Perfection": "Alaya is the root of mind, self-awareness is the root of object, the similarity between the two is a great difference. Ignorance appears as mind, awareness appears as non-conceptual, the similarity is the same and the difference is great." In short, in all the vehicles of the eight stages, the mind's conceptualization, which has never existed from the beginning, is taken as the path like a sudden water bubble, and various abandonments and antidotes are made at the gate of manifestation of skill or play, thereby getting rid of the mind's defilements and considering it as wisdom. The Great Perfection Atiyoga, which directly reveals awareness, does not disturb the nature of awareness by the wave form of ignorance and the eight consciousnesses, but truly abides in the nature of awareness. For sudden mental conceptualizations, like drawing lines on water or the appearance of bubbles, various abandonments and antidotes are not needed as a path, but directly cultivate the inherent awareness, as it is said in "Self-Arisen": "The metaphor of awareness and ignorance is the way of water and lines, depending on conditions." And "The metaphor of mind and awareness is the way of water and bubbles, not dominated by mind." In this way, it is revealed by associating metaphors and meanings: Only at the level of non-conceptualization, mind and awareness are similar, Awareness is emptiness without self-nature, Mind swirls and is ignorant like a whirlpool. Awareness is like the moon in the empty sky, clear to the bottom, Mind is like the fifteenth moon, mixed with the environment. Purity and no environment are the merits of awareness, Complete mixing with the environment is the characteristic of mind. In the state of abiding in equanimity, mind and awareness are similar only at the level of no conceptualization, but the dharma nature of awareness is emptiness, without obscuration and covering, does not depend on consciousness, and transcends view, practice, cause, and effect. As it is said in "Lion's Roar Perfection": "Awareness is spontaneously accomplished without cultivation, cultivation will not find me. Self-arisen is originally uncreated, speculation will not see me. Dharmakaya is originally free from extremes, observation will not see me." Mind is related to consciousness, so it cuts off the four extremes of elaboration, and clings to the view of such cutting off, so its essence abides in non-conceptualization, like the water of a whirlpool.
