From the Kalasamyoga Tantra: If one does not realize Suchness, then yoga is like the body and its shadow. From that, that itself arises spontaneously, so abandonment is not abandonment. Likewise, it is not through cultivation, nor does it change through transformation. If one does not realize the unchanging essence, it is like a crystal rock or a turquoise stone, which cannot be purified or melted. By its very nature, it is in a pure state, and those who possess yoga will discern it. Likewise, it is not quiescence itself. If one does not know manifest insight, it is like Mount Meru, the king of mountains, which cannot be destroyed by anyone. It is not liberated by antidotes. If one does not understand self-purification without seeking, wanting to clear turbidity is like turbid water, which becomes less clear the more it is cleared. Even if it is cleared, it is not the nature of reality. If one does not understand spontaneous manifestation, it is like the appearance of an ordinary fool, and clinging will not be dispelled. Thus it is said. Among these, from the perspective of the stages of entry into the mind of an individual, there are two types of self-liberation: with effort and without effort. The first is that from a state that does not waver from its inherent condition, no matter what collection of afflictions and conceptual thoughts arises, one grasps it with certainty through the insight that knows its own nature, and does not move from that state. It is not bound by antidotes, nor does it follow after them, but remains in that state. Because it is not established in that way on the basis of awareness, it is pure like water that is not turbid, without the miraculous nature of flowing. Effortless is when the place of arising and the one who arises are of the same taste, and the nature of reality and conceptual thought are not established as two, essence and manifestation. It arises and liberates itself, so whatever arises cannot remain. From the former: These are the two stages of mind, those with effort and those without effort. Those with effort remain in their own place. For the extent of familiarization with appearances, the appearance of pure wisdom, naturally arises in all within and without, and is not born from conditions. Whenever they arise, they are liberated in their own self-established state. Therefore, it is the appearance of yoga. Those without effort are like this: one liberates oneself by oneself, and one's own self is self-liberated. Just as iron cleaves iron and stone shatters stone, one's own self is a powerful antidote to oneself. Through the realization of the Great Perfection of self-nature, whatever one becomes familiar with in this way, one finds the meaning of self-established without seeking, and great bliss increases without meditation, the very nature.

Now, directly realize. Whoever encounters this, even if they possess heinous sins, liberation comes through familiarizing with this. There is no doubt about it, it is hell. Thus it is said. Secondly, from the "String of Pearls": The awareness without cessation, without delusion, has no turning back. Being primordially liberated, it is ultimately transcendent. Being self-liberated, the conditions of objects are exhausted. Being directly liberated, appearances are purified. Being liberated at the end, the four extremes cease. Being liberated as one, the many are emptied. Thus, five distinctions are shown. Among them, the first characteristic of primordial liberation is: In the midst of the five aggregates and the appropriation of the eight consciousnesses, which are like clouds, the nature of awareness is like the sky, without inherent existence. Therefore, in existence, the burden of universal connection is completely abandoned. The self-nature is free from elaboration, so it is unmade and unaltered. It is primordially liberated, so it does not rely on effort or antidotal paths. From the "String of Pearls": It is not liberated by effort, but abides in liberation from the very beginning. Thus it is said. From "Meaningful Diligence": The nature of mind that is primordially liberated, how could there be external conditions for liberation? Thus it is said. Then, why do sentient beings wander in samsara? O you, with a beautiful face, intelligent and wise, the dharma is: the three doors are liberated in their own nature, but they are bound. Grasping objects as knowledge, grasping a rope as an appearance, mistaking that appearance for reality, judging colors and shapes in external objects is form. Knowing the nature of its harm is feeling. The stream of consciousness that connects these in sequence is perception. Not being liberated from the concept of grasping a snake is formation. The cause of the master of all of these is the collection of the alaya consciousness, afflicted mind, etc. But the dharma nature of awareness, primordially liberated, does not establish anything. It looks between self-mastery and what is mine. On the illusion of non-existence, grasping form as real. The three realms have never existed from the beginning, but they suddenly appear to you, who have vast knowledge. That is: In this way, various appearances are like seeing a snake on a rope. Grasping what is not that as that, the outer and inner worlds, the container and its contents, are formed. Thus it is said. Therefore, the awareness of primordial liberation does not entrust itself to the winds that appropriate the five senses, but does not stray from the state of abiding in natural openness. That is: The five elements are primordially pure, appearances are liberated as clear light. The five senses themselves abide in natural openness.
