Close the door, look to the right, hold your breath, and when you feel comfortable, slowly recite the Vajra Body mantra (sku rdo rje'i sngags) from the left. Alternate like this, starting with four times in the initial direction, three times in each direction, seven times as a set, continuously for a month, doing this every day. After getting a little used to it, gradually increase to four sets, etc., adjusting according to your own condition and persevering. This is said to be the best method for averting death. As it says in the Root Tantra (rtsa rgyud): 'Life is drawn into the bindu (thig le), the bindu revolves in the chakras in order.' And in the Difficult Explanation, Garland of Lotuses (dka' 'grel pad ma can) <quoting the Root Tantra>: 'Therefore, through the third branch, the yogi exerts the life force, blocking the paths of the right and left channels, causing them to flow into the central channel. When life enters the central channel, the ten mandalas of earth, etc., should always be blocked from entering the right and left channels. (This is also for coming and going, the exertion of life force has ten forms.)' And in The Clear Essence (snying po gsal ba): 'The middle breath is the best, connected with urine and feces and the sun and moon channels, completely combined with the four channels, is the nature of the five wisdoms, blessed by the five Buddhas, is the essence of the five elements, and is called life and effort.' And in The Practice of Sun and Moon (nyi zla bsgrub pa): 'The skilled in illusion wheel yoga, infuse the five winds into the Avadhuti (a ba dhū tīr), contemplate the pure self-nature, after five days, in the Avadhuti (a ba dhū tīr), the signs of entry will appear.' And so on. The mind is the contemplation of the image and the object with the image. Second, the five signs of life entering the central channel are: the physical sign is concentration at the eyebrow center, with tremors, etc., at the crown of the head; the sign of the breath is not feeling the breath moving, and upon examination, finding that the breath flows very slowly from both nostrils; the sign of the mind is that consciousness is in a state of clear emptiness, without conceptualization; the sign of seeing is seeing smoke-like appearances, etc., and various bindu-like appearances, etc., appearing clearly and steadily; the sign of dreaming is dreaming of flying and horse racing, etc. Third, after entering, through the combination of the coarse wind vase breathing (bum pa can), binding the life force in the bindu of the central channel, which is divided into three parts. First, the practice of vase breathing (bum pa can) is divided into three parts. In terms of the body, (as it says in the Great Commentary ('grel chen):) sit in a rounded posture, with the hands crossed in front of the chest in the Vajra Fist mudra (phyag rgya rdo rje khu tshur). (As it says in the Oral Transmission (snyan brgyud):) sit in the single lotus position. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'What presses down, encloses within, and tightens the semen?' Visualizing at the eyebrow center, with the visualization that accomplishes nearness and eliminates obstacles, transforms into the nectar place and the six limbs. The Guhyasamaja (密宗根本经典) says: 'During the time of approaching, visualize the form of swirling nectar.' The Hevajra (喜金刚本续) says: 'The very visualization of stiffness in the center, two in the center of the tip of the nose.' This is what was said (above). Speech, that is, when the breath flows equally from both nostrils, visualize in the center. After exhaling the upward air, bend quickly, completely gather and tighten the lower gate, abide in union in the center, make it stiff, and practice non-conceptual samadhi (三摩地). When the pleasure is intense, if you cannot bear it, relax the lower gate, and slowly recite the mantra of the Mind Vajra (心金刚) from both nostrils. The 'Small Commentary, Garland of Lotuses' says: 'Thereafter, with life and effort, abandoning arising and filling, the yogi makes a vase in the central channel.' How is it done there? The Root Tantra (根本续) and the Guhyasamaja Fifth Stage (密集金刚·次第五) say: 'Quickly and completely gathering, stiffness and mantra combining, the guru should diligently proclaim in the disciple's ear.' The Hevajra (喜金刚) says: 'Exhaling is the cause of falling, inhaling is the cause of control, filling is the cause of bending, pacifying is the cause of stiffness.' The Oral Transmission (口耳传承) says: 'First, release the air outward, inward quickly and completely gathering, stiffness and mantra combining with gestures, with the vase shape and the edge of dust, bring the two airs into the center and bind them, completely pacify the ten airs, the life air merges into the Vajra fire, bliss will surely arise.' Thus and so forth it is said. The mind is the same as before. Second, the measure of vase breathing has three parts, among which, the measure of the length of time is: the initial vase (at the secret place), the middle vase (at the navel), the upper vase (at the heart), practice the small, medium, and large three types of vase breathing. That is, circling the knee with the thumb, with the time to perceive a snap of the fingers, being able to sustain thirty-six, seventy-two, one hundred and eight times, is the measure of small, medium, and large vase breathing, after becoming proficient, there is no fixed length of time. Thus, if continuously bound in four or eight sessions, the channels...
