When Namgyal turned thirteen, he extensively elaborated on the teachings endowed with the five perfections. Gyaltsab Rinpoche Pema Sang-ngak Tendzin guided him with the transmission methods of the early translation teachings and gave timely and extensive instructions. At the same time, Orgyen Nyima, the nephew-incarnate from Takgang Monastery, along with other Dzogchen followers, as well as followers of various non-sectarian traditions, Ling King, and all the deities and humans, offered thrones and praises. On the third day, sixteen Suratos performed offering dances and other grand celebrations. Yabtsang received over three hundred offerings, including two hundred silver srangs. Generous feasts and offerings were bestowed upon all the deities and humans, including Tönchen. From then on, under the guidance of his close attendant and teacher, Wonpo Chodrak Zangpo, he diligently studied from the alphabet for four years, thus becoming learned. He also received empowerments, transmissions, and practiced retreats as appropriate. At the age of eleven, after the passing of his teacher, Khenpo Thukje Tashi took his place. In the same year, he traveled to Gyalrong (Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province) and received the Rigdzin Srogdrub of Lhatsun Dorje, the five great empowerments, all the terma teachings of Rigdzin Nyima Drakpa, the Naga Raka of Thukchok Dorje, and the empowerments and transmissions of the Longchen Nyingtik, the mind treasure of Kunkhyen Jigme Lingpa, from the third Nyitrul Rinpoche, Migyur Phende Gyatso. He learned calligraphy from Sogru Kunzang. At the age of twelve, starting from the vase practice gathering on the tenth day of the New Year, except for a few special occasions, he attended all the Dharma gatherings throughout his life. His impeccable conduct, reliable source, and wonderful blessings caused the lotus of faith to bloom again in all intelligent beings. From the primordial protector and root guru, Namkha Tsewang Chokdrub, he received the practical instructions on the Khandro Nyingtik, the Sangwa Nyingtik, and the Dorsem Nyingtik, and practiced the preliminaries, thus gaining experience in faith, renunciation, and the precious bodhicitta.

He was born not from elsewhere, but arose in the mind of self-arisen wisdom. In particular, the special preliminary practice of distinguishing between samsara and nirvana, and the practice of training the three doors of body, speech, and mind like the union of stone and bone, as a preliminary, through distinguishing between mind and awareness, the oral instructions on how to rely on mindfulness to directly recognize awareness, etc., were imparted in a concise manner, thereby gaining control over the primordial dominion of Kuntuzangpo, and thus he was called the "Do Kham Dzogchenpa" in accordance with the meaning of the name. Furthermore, he completely received the empowerments and transmissions of the above-mentioned three Heart Essences, Nyang Treasure Black Horse, and the profound treasures of the Nyangchos such as the Four-Armed Mahakala, the Dzogchen view of Gyalsé Dorje Lingpa, "Long Yang," the peaceful and wrathful deities of Karling, the Yamantaka Wrathful One of Shangtröm, the Lama Gongdü of Sangye Lingpa, the phurba of Ratna, and most of the profound treasures of the great vidyadhara Nyima Drakpa, the mind treasure of the vidyadhara Pao Lerap, the Immortal Heart Essence of Garwang Chimé Lingpa, Tekling, and most of the profound treasures of the great treasure revealer Pema Drödul Tsal, etc., and widely listened to the Dharma teachings, empowerments, and transmissions. From Khenchen Rigzin Zangpo, he received the Nyang Treasure Kagye empowerment transmission, from Gertsé Lama Södan, he received the Dü Dö and the Heart Essence Ka Ter cycles, and from Shechen Rabjam and Gyaltsab Khenpo, he widely received the empowerments and transmissions of the Ka Ter. From the Wood Mouse year (uncertain) to the Iron Horse year (uncertain), for seven years, he was not tainted by the large-scale distractions such as the rituals for taming beings in villages. Each year, for no less than six months, in extremely strict retreat, with the mind deity of the previous lamas as the main focus, he practiced the three roots of the Ka Ter extensively and with great precision. During all this time, he also specially invited highly respected Vajra Masters from various places and widely received empowerments, transmissions, and maturing instructions. Since it is difficult to list their names one by one, it is known from the vast listening catalog that he became the most learned of listeners. The encouragement and management of all these were undertaken by Je Lama Namkha Tsewang Chokdrup, and he completed them perfectly according to the instructions of the lama. The activity wheel of action was also managed by Je Lama Namkha and the nephew tulkus, and at the age of thirteen, through the offerings of the tenth day, he simultaneously completed the two wheels and established a grand wheel, and restored the labrang except for the assembly hall.
