A brief history of how the Ra-bu Samten Lhundrupma's teachings were received: Initially, at the age of fifteen, in the middle autumn of the Wood Horse year ( ), on the tenth day of the ninth month, at dawn, I dreamt of arriving at the top of a temple said to be Brak Mar Drin Zang. There, a red woman, adorned with silk and jewels, beautiful with the appearance of seven goddesses, held an unopened red flower in her right hand. As soon as she gave it to me, it opened, and from within appeared a small red booklet. When I opened it and began to read, it was all symbolic writing, and I couldn't understand it. Then, she handed me a skull cup (Sanskrit: kapāla) filled with nectar in her left hand. The moment I drank it, knowledge poured forth like a flood. I could effortlessly read all the symbolic writing, which contained an immense amount of material on Guru Rinpoche's (Sanskrit: Guru) Mind Accomplishment (Sanskrit: thugs sgrub) – the Peaceful and Wrathful Gathering of Vidyadharas (Sanskrit: bde gshegs 'dus pa), outer, inner, secret, and very secret practices. An immeasurable joy arose. At that moment, the woman spoke many prophecies, but I only remember a few phrases, such as, "In the future, near this monastery, wish-fulfilling jewels will actually appear." Then, the booklet dissolved into red light and merged into me, and I felt that the meaning of all the words became clear and bright. In that state, I woke up. Immediately after, I wrote a detailed outer practice manual, similar in form to the Mind Accomplishment that Removes All Obstacles (Sanskrit: bar chad kun sel), which also included all eight Sadhana sections. I also wrote a brief daily practice for the inner practice, which is the main form of the current Samten Lhundrupma. Although it seemed to arrange the thirteen Gurus in a body mandala, the time for propagating it had not yet come, so I practiced it a little myself. Later, I also concealed the manuscript as a treasure. As for the secret practice, there appeared the peaceful and wrathful aspects of Great Compassion (Sanskrit: Avalokiteśvara), and the very secret Vajravarahi (Sanskrit: Vajravarahi) practices, but they were clear in my mind and not written down. Then, at the age of thirty-one, on the tenth day of the waxing moon in the first month of the Iron Dog year ( ), the Labrang of Chakzam Chuwo Ri also made offerings. As I had received prophecies from Drak Yerpa, I aimed to bring happiness to Tibet. I offered hundreds of Tsok offerings at Namkha Dzing, the Guru's practice place, and went to the top of the sacred site to perform Sang and offer gold.
