The histories of Lamdre, Chakrasamvara, Vajrabhairava, etc., composed by Ngawang Chodrak. The histories of the three red protectors appear in their respective texts. These can be understood from the histories of the yogini's guru lineage composed by Tuwan Chökyi Nyima, and so forth. Such upholders of the teachings, the deeds of qualified holy beings, can also be summarized as follows: The venerable great Sakya Paṇḍita said, "First, become learned in all objects of knowledge. In the middle, explain well in gatherings of the learned. Finally, meditate diligently on what you are familiar with. This is the intention of all Buddhas of the three times." As it is said, the foundation is to hold pure discipline, translated and established by the Paṇḍitas and great translators, explained and practiced by the learned and accomplished ones.

Having thoroughly mastered the vast ocean of Sutra and Tantra doctrines, renowned and established as a standard for all intelligent beings. The combination of their words, the interpretation of their meanings, and even the subtle practices of rituals, including the real and the imputed, the intention and the necessity, the differences between one's own and others' tenets, etc., are all meticulously analyzed with the wisdom of contemplation. Whenever teaching others or composing treatises, it is established by scripture and reasoning, and the oral instructions of the lineage of gurus are followed without error, without mixing in the slightest impurities of other doctrines' sayings or one's own fabrications. In general, for the profound path, and in particular from the great Lord Vajradhara and the great Siddha Virupa, the lineage of Indian and Tibetan scholars and siddhas has never been interrupted, no dog has entered in between, and the precious oral transmission of the Dakinis, whose breath has not yet faded, is practiced with the four valid means of cognition. First, it is ripened by the power of the causal time; in the middle, it is nourished by taking the four sessions, like an unceasing river by the power of the path time, thus becoming familiar with the four paths of the two stages; finally, by the power of the fruition time, in this life or in the bardo, one will surely attain the supreme siddhi of Mahamudra, which is far more excellent than other paths. Furthermore, by practicing the supreme, common attainments naturally arise as a byproduct; by practicing the common, supreme attainments naturally arise as a byproduct. With many profound and extensive instructions that are sure to be obtained, oneself and others are easily led to the two siddhis, temporary and ultimate. Furthermore, besides upholding one's own tenets without error, one does not follow other systems, but apart from some analysis of those systems with scripture and reasoning, one does not engage in sectarian bias and hatred, such as groundless hatred and slander. Although possessing vast realization and clairvoyance internally, one maintains a hidden demeanor, as it is said in the Glorious Guhyasamaja: "Outwardly, maintain the conduct of a Shravaka; inwardly, delight in the meaning of the Guhyasamaja." As it is said, putting it into practice, one becomes a pandita who can speak accurately about the Sutra, Tantra, and all the shastras including the sciences, just as the great chariots of India and Tibet have upheld, and accurately expound the path spoken of in the Tantras.
