Just as in the forest of the Bigha Mountains, even ordinary trees can possess the power of sandalwood, by relying on the holy ones and learning their behavior, even humble people can transform into the conduct of the holy. Just as relying on the shadow of a venomous snake's raised hood leads to being bound by poison, merely associating with those who are worthy of reproach will implicate you in blameworthy actions. Flee far away from bad friends by any means. The very foundation of the seven treasures of heavenly merit depends on long life. For protection from the dangers of life, etc., life is the cause. Strive to maintain a state of existence that does not change. If, due to the force of karma and circumstances, one deviates from the normal state of assembly, then, like the instructions of a skilled physician, adopt the methods of acceptance and rejection, and sustain life through various methods and rituals. Just as the ocean arises from the accumulation of water droplets, strive even from the smallest virtues. Just as a beautiful form is ill-fated due to a single flaw, even the slightest improper conduct should be abandoned. In any matter of Dharma or politics, examine and analyze with keen intelligence. Avoid rushing into things recklessly on your own accord, or following the words of others. Whatever thoughts of happiness or suffering arise in your mind, if expressed in words, they will reveal your own faults. Slowly let them settle in the ocean of wisdom, maintaining a state that no one can fathom. Abandon thoughts and actions of competing with those who are superior, being jealous of those who are equal, and despising those who are inferior. Attract others' minds with respect, humility, and love, and use skillful means to achieve your own desires. Making judgments without investigation, having joy and sorrow faster than autumn clouds, and making promises for things that cannot be accomplished, all ultimately lead to the ruin of oneself and others. Like a supreme elephant, maintain your noble character; like a mountain king, hold firm to your position; and never abandon vows and commitments even if it means death. Such is the conduct of the holy ones. Do not forget the kindness of those who have helped you, and cherish all who depend on you like your own family. By extending shame and long-term consideration, praiseworthy fame will spread in all directions. Especially towards those who are near and far, be as clear as the moon, without harboring harmful thorns in your heart. This is the most important thing in both worldly and spiritual affairs. For the desires that you must rely on, have a sense of acceptance, rejection, and care.
