The pyre was burned. Oṃ sarva tathāgata adhiṣṭhāna adhiṣṭhate sarva pāpaṃ āvaraṇi bhasmiṃ kuru svāhā. Secondly, scattering the sand and mustard seeds that have been recited with mantras again transforms them into the wind of Dharma, scattering the ashes of afflictions. Strike the sand and mustard seeds together, and at the end of the mantra say: Oṃ daha daha sarva naraka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Oṃ paca paca sarva pratāka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Oṃ matha matha sarva tiryaka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Oṃ cchindha cchindha sarva nṛ gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Oṃ traṭ traṭ sarva asura gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Oṃ bhṛta bhṛta sarva sura gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ. Thirdly, take the water mixed with the water from the vase of mantras and the vase of bathing. In the center of the vase, visualize the pure land of the Bhagavan Protector Amitabha, including the support and the supported, clearly appearing as if in reality. From his body, a stream of nectar descends, washing away the sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies of the deceased. Hūṃ. In the celestial palace of the auspicious vase, the Protector Amitabha and the assembly of deities reside. The water is the nature of patience, completely purifying the stains of anger. Say: Oṃ padma dhāri hūṃ. Tadyathā. Amite. Amitodbhave. Amita sambhave. Amita vikānta gāmini. Gaganakīrti kare. Sarva keśa kṣayaṃ kari svāhā. All the sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies of the deceased that cause them to be born in hell, śāntaṃ kuru svāhā. Say this and bathe them. Similarly, Hūṃ. In the auspicious vase, Amitabha. The water is the nature of generosity, eliminating the stains of miserliness. At the end of the mantra, the sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies of the deceased that cause them to be born as pretas. Hūṃ. Auspicious, Amitabha. The water is the nature of wisdom, eliminating the stains of ignorance. At the end of the mantra, the sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies of the deceased that cause them to be born as animals. Hūṃ. Auspicious, Amitabha. Oṃ Hūṃ! In the palace of the auspicious vase, the protector Amitābha and the assembly of deities reside. The water is the nature of the pāramitās, completely purifying the defilements of the six realms. Thus it is said, and at the end of the mantra, all the sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies of the deceased being born in the six realms, Śāntiṃ Kuru Svāhā. (藏文,梵文天城体:शान्तिं कुरु स्वाहा,梵文罗马拟音:śāntiṃ kuru svāhā,汉语字面意思:Peace, make, svāhā.) Thus it is said. Fifth, prostration and supplication for refuge: With unwavering reverence and intense devotion to the guru and the protector Amitābha and the assembly of deities with their retinue, the deceased prostrates and takes refuge with the intention of doing so. If there are relatives, etc., have them actually prostrate. Prostration to the Bhagavan, the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha Amitābha, immaculate and utterly pure, who abides, lives, dwells, and also teaches the Dharma, with the retinue of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the noble Saṅgha of Śrāvakas, and the assembly of Dharma protectors. I prostrate! I offer! I take refuge! Recite three times. If you wish to elaborate, perform the complete prostration of the Pure Land ritual, or if you do not perform an extensive empowerment, then after performing the seven branches of the Samantabhadra's Prayer, recite: Bhagavan, Lord of Great Compassion, Amitābha, protector, assembly of deities, look upon me, the unprotected, with compassion, I pray that you accomplish the deeds of the Buddhas, pacify the suffering of saṃsāra and the lower realms, and all obscurations, with the light of true wisdom, I pray that you guide me to the path of enlightenment. Recite this three times. Sixth, empowerment: If you wish to elaborate, perform the entire process as mentioned above, from purifying the continuum to obtaining the wheel of ornaments and equal share. If you abbreviate, then relying on prostration and supplication for refuge, light radiates from the hearts of the Buddhas and their retinue, touching the deceased, and in an instant, in front of the Bhagavan, the protector Amitābha, on the stamen of a fully blossomed lotus flower, on a seat of the moon, he is transformed into the form of Avalokiteśvara, placing in his continuum the seed of the cause and the habitual tendencies of the fruit of being born in the Sukhāvatī Pure Land, and becoming a suitable vessel. From the hearts of the Tathāgata and his retinue, emanate inconceivable assemblies of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, with the vidyādharī goddesses filling the vase with the nectar of wisdom.
