One should train in this! Furthermore, those who have no regard for their own benefit, but only desire to benefit others, and who are always filled with compassion, sometimes seem to allow for faults other than the three faults of mental misconduct or wrong views. This can be seen in the treatises that establish the Bodhisattva Pitaka. This is from the work of Bhikshu Rabjor Yang. Paragraph 23. In the "Eliminating Sorrow" by Master Ashvagosha: Thus, for all beings that are born, death stands before them. Since all appear to be passing away, it is not appropriate to grieve. Those who crave friendship and companionship are tormented by sorrow, like deer attached to the sound of drums, being killed by hunters in the forest. When all must go, and all are going there, why grieve for those who have already gone there before? These beings who are utterly intoxicated by the unbearable lord of death, are like animals standing before a killing lion in the forest. When death cannot be averted, because there is no way to prevent it, do not waste effort in vain, swimming like a fish in water. On earth or in heaven, is there anyone who has been born and not died? Have you seen or heard of anyone, or do you doubt it? In all these three realms, everything is burned by the fire of impermanence, like a monastery burned by fire. If one always perversely thinks that things are permanent, then beings, even from the peak of existence, are drawn by the noose of death, like an elephant drawn by a rope. Experiencing the bliss born of meditation, even Brahma, falls from the realm of Brahma, like the bank of a river washed away by the current. Even a thousand Indras, and a hundred Chakravartins, are consumed by time and die, like a burning lamp extinguished by the wind. The great five-knowing sages, even those who can travel far in the sky, cannot go to a place where there is no death. Where the earths are burned, and Mount Meru is destroyed to ashes, and the water of the ocean dries up, what need is there to mention those with bodies of flesh and blood? If the bodies of the Buddhas, adorned with the thirty-two marks and eighty minor marks

Alas! Even the Vajra body is impermanent, Like a water tree without essence, What need is there to mention other sentient beings? It is also said: In the hells, again and again, The molten copper that is drunk, Even the water in the ocean, Is not equal to its measure. It is also said: In the cycle of existence, separated from loved ones, Who is it that weeps? The vessel for the tears that fall, Even the ocean cannot contain it. Thus it is said. Also, he (the author) wrote to King Kanishka: The Lord of Death is neither a friend nor a relative, He comes suddenly, Do not take "I will do it tomorrow" as an excuse, Practice according to the Holy Dharma. Saying "I will do this tomorrow or today," Is not good for people. When you will no longer exist, That tomorrow will surely come without mercy. Thus and so on. Even after hundreds or thousands of eons, One has not been a human in this world, Because this has not been done, childish beings, Must do it again and again, Sentient beings since beginningless time, Have not yet been able to return. Thus it is said. The Letter for Purifying the Precious Mind, extracting the essence from it to speak, this is a practice that is extremely worthy of cultivation. Here, the mind is naturally luminous, its nature is constantly without conceptualization, but with the body and speech like servants, it is disturbed by sudden afflictions and near afflictions. Therefore, these should be completely abandoned, and like the light of a mani jewel or crystal, the nature of extreme luminosity, free from disturbance, should be generated. This alone is non-abiding nirvana. Therefore, the mind spoken of here, being disturbed, becomes conceptual, and the body and speech are enslaved like servants, there are four situations: the cause of all, is much conceptual thought, attachment, hatred, and severe ignorance. Among them, those with much conceptual thought should abandon it by focusing on the samadhi of wind. Counting, following, abiding, analyzing, and transforming, there are truly six aspects. Among them, the first, counting, is to focus on the inhalation and exhalation of breath, without intentional effort, relaxing the body and mind, and simply counting from one to ten with mindfulness.
