One will not attain nirvana. (Tibetan) And so on. Staying in a monastery with a contented mind, wearing the worst of clothes, one will not develop arrogance, nor will one be fearful, confused, or deluded. Furthermore, subduing pride and enduring insults, one's body can endure hunger, and the suffering of being bound by ropes by guests does not exist for those who engage in begging. Also, whether one gets up from the seat after eating or not, one will not take the water used to wash the begging bowl and eat again, and after obtaining food separately, one will not eat again after eating the last morsel, that is the end of food. Thus it is said. Because of the fault of eating repeatedly, one does not abandon one's own seat, diseases are reduced, harm is lessened, and the body becomes light, and the arising of yoga becomes easy because of this. Thus it is said. One will not be overcome by the thick darkness of sleep, nor will the mind be dominated by the comfort of the mattress. In this way, attachment to the body becomes thin, and from this, meditation becomes clear and blissful. Furthermore, those who do not abandon their vows later, having taken vows, are without greed and attachment, content and moderate in desire, and in accordance with the way of faith. Furthermore, by relying only on the three robes, one can enter into a state of contentment and moderation in desire, and one abandons the many attachments, including the coarseness of the robes. Like a bird, one takes them up and goes wherever one pleases. Being free from the permission to abandon, therefore the monk is without afflictions. Furthermore, the merit of complete abandonment is that clothes made from collected wool, being content because they are without falsehood, and the afflictions of seeking what arises from beautiful greed are also absent. Furthermore, because one is satisfied with laying it out as it is, guarding the vows is very dignified. The newly ordained monk on the mattress, dwells in bliss and guards it. Furthermore, when laying out a grass mat or sleeping on the ground, just as bliss arises from the foundation, even on top of an immeasurable palace of shining jewels, that bliss is not present in a mind without contentment. Furthermore, in the charnel ground, one constantly faces the threat of death, one will feel weary, therefore one will not become heedless. Seeing various impure sights, the attachment of desire will not increase. Furthermore, wherever there are good trees, the mattresses of

Possessing the wealth of a joyful mind. Traveling unobstructed in all directions. That is the path of the excellent Dharma. There, the Dharma also increases, and it reverses the pride of the power of demons. And, seeking, guarding, and shaking the bedding, it is not entirely a place for sleeping. Having vowed to practice in a place without covering, it is extremely beautiful due to the absence of commotion. Etc., the qualities are extensively shown. Also, because the collection of qualities such as these is perfectly attained, it is called the merit of training. Because it purifies faults, it is called the merit of purification. Thus it is said. Among these, what is called samadhi is so called because it fixes the mind and mental factors on one object in order to abandon sinking, discouragement, distraction, and inequality. Or, because the mind and mental factors are completely gathered on one object, it is samadhi. Or, because it is non-perverted, when one fixes and places oneself in this samadhi, it is samadhi because it generates that and that excellent wisdom and vision. Moreover, its types are, for example, the four dhyanas, the three preparatory stages, the four formless absorptions, the six recollections, the four immeasurables, the recollection of breathing in and breathing out, the ten perceptions, the ten kasinas, the eight victories, the eight liberations, the overcoming, the absorption of non-perception, the three samadhis such as emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, and entering into absorption such as perceiving what is in accordance with what is in accordance, and the three emptinesses, and the samadhis that possess the five limbs and the five consciousnesses, and so forth. The noble one, by his own qualities, can be seen from a high and distant place. It is like a long autumn in a beautiful, stainless place. Thus it is said. This is the translation of Dipamkara and Ratnabhadra. Auspicious! From the teaching of the path of the ten virtuous actions, these ten virtuous actions are the cause of all higher realms and definite goodness, therefore Buddhist disciples
