One should strive diligently. Otherwise, the effort will become meaningless. Thus it is said. Those who wish to deceive death, should first diligently generate merit. Dharma protects from death, and Dharma deceives death. One should abandon Dharma and not be heedless, not even for a moment should one remain. Thus it is said. What is the use of other vast Dharmas? Non-harming is the supreme Dharma. Thus it is said. Birds, fish, wild animals, thieves, and snakes, etc., who have become the object of being killed, by saving their lives, immediately even the short-lived will become long-lived. Thieves, fish, wild animals, snakes, birds, etc., those who cling to life, if these are killed, immediately even the long-lived will become short-lived. Abandoning the ten non-virtues, likewise the third refuge, keeping the five and eight precepts, will prolong the distance of death. In prison, sickness and suffering, and fears such as harm, no matter how much there is, if one protects them, surely one will have long life, it is a method of deceiving death. Thus it is said. In a solitary place, with cloth-drawn thangkas, etc., having made offerings in front, even just reciting mantras, the effect of deceiving death will occur. Thus it is said. Thus, this is the explanation of deceiving the enemy of death. From the samadhi attained from one's own or another's treatises, one should strive to cultivate it well. From the fear of merciless death, one should strive to be completely liberated. Because here, other than life, there is nothing else that is pleasing. Thus it is said. Thus, suchness is said to be emptiness, possessing the nature of all perfections. If one constantly familiarizes oneself with it, one will be able to deceive death. Thus it is said. Possessing all perfections, possessing the perfection of all emptiness, one should abandon those who cling to emptiness. If one constantly meditates on emptiness, one will not be seen by death. That death which arises merely from conceptual thought will also not be seen. Furthermore, many demons and samsara will also not be seen. Thus it is said. The conceptual thought called death does not exist in all things, but because of the dullness of ordinary beings, it is destroyed by one's own conceptual thought. All the suffering of conceptual thought is said to be the death of conceptual thought. Therefore, in order to destroy conceptual thought, one should always not conceptualize. Thus it is said. Treatises are easy to find, but it is difficult to put them into practice.

It is extremely difficult to find! In a world that knows how to combine, combination is not a difficult thing to find. Thus it is said. Skilled and virtuous in combining, abiding in patience and diligence, a wise person who strives in practice is a vessel for deceiving the Lord of Death. Thus it is said. When oil and essence are exhausted, lamps and the like tend towards destruction, but by obtaining oil and the like again, they can remain until the end of the kalpa. Just as this is, so too is this body; as it tends towards death due to aging and the like, if one can well obtain the essential instructions for accomplishment, why can it not remain until the end of the kalpa? Thus it is said. By striving with strength, there is no difficulty at all. Therefore, one should not cast off the burden of effort. If it flows constantly, even a gentle stream of water can, in time, pierce through hard slabs of stone. By rubbing, fire arises from wood, and by digging, water arises from earth. For a person who possesses diligence, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. Thus it is said. From the "Essence of the Condensed Collection of the Four Seats Mandala Ritual," from the vision of the lineage's secret. The yoga treatise is supreme, it is the one that refutes outer treatises. There is no grammar or logic, it abandons the characteristics of sound. The yoga words of those with wisdom, all are yoga treatises. Thus it is said. This treatise, based on meaning, is a teaching from one to another, the extremely hidden and secret meaning is explained by way of coded language. Thus it is said. First, for a while, the teacher should first practice approach and the like. Thus it is said. To a disciple who is extremely stable, the teacher inquires about the mandala. Having taken refuge in the Three Jewels, and possessing the purity of the nature of body and the like, speaking gently and sweetly, and possessing loving-kindness and other altruistic thoughts, especially valuing listening and learning, and delighting in generosity and other virtuous deeds, aspiring to the Great Vehicle, and possessing faith in the secret Dharma, always respecting the guru, such a disciple should be accepted. Thus it is said. Thereafter, the mandala ritual for accomplishing all siddhis should be explained. With a mind of loving-kindness and benefiting others, one should first protect the earth. A place pure in mind, one should abandon those without faith. Having protected a pure place and so forth, the wise one should construct the mandala there. Thus it is said. That
