Or, even when wandering, there are five qualities of desiring favorable conditions. That is, at that time, one also seeks good fragrances, clings to clean and pure places, and increases and obtains them with an attitude of abandoning other places. Because it is not grasped by skillful means, it is similar to the ritual of incense burning in its function. The second also has inferior and superior skillful means that grasp it. The first is that, for those who use those places as the path, the non-Buddhists have four ways of entering into wrong discrimination due to holding the Vedas as valid. Those also mostly rely on bathing, cleanliness, fasting, fire offerings, and sacrificial rituals, etc., and strive. Because those are also characterized by obtaining meaningful purity and satisfaction, they are regarded as similar to the offering of incense burning. The second also has two types: abandoning those bases as the path and not abandoning them as the path. The first, the Hearers, see the manifest attachment to places as the root of samsara, so they abandon it, and by perfecting the precepts of discipline that protect against misconduct and purify it, they enter the path that pleases the Buddhas, which becomes a special offering of purifying fragrance. As the words say: "Here, in all ways, there is no purity without taming." And elsewhere it is said: "This discipline is purity." etc. Moreover, the earth goddess also said: "The protector of the world, in order to pacify the harm of the plague in the world, invites the Buddha's image, etc., it is said in this way. There, smear fragrant mud, in the center of the street, on the ground, decorate with various flowers, make it extremely beautiful. Offer incense of sandalwood, agarwood, and camphor from all directions. From all directions, the cool fragrance is blown by the slow and gentle wind." etc. In particular, the Mahayana Paramita school, with the mind of wanting to liberate limitless sentient beings, correctly takes the vows of aspiration and practice, practices the seven branches etc. according to the Dharma in the intervals between sessions, and studies the six perfections etc. in the main practice of the session. As in the first case, the first is prostration.

Therefore, one goes. The general distinctions of offerings, and in particular, the fragrance pervades throughout the three thousand worlds, and with the best fragrances, the bodies of the Buddhas are anointed, as if they were wiped with pure gold, radiating light. Thus it is said. Also, with the excellent incense that is delightful and spreads fragrance, offer the clouds of incense. As it is said and so on. Like the latter, the six perfections can also be counted in the ritual of smoke offering: pleasing those who have become the object of limitless offerings with the desired qualities represented by fragrant smoke is generosity; although the bodies of the Buddhas do not have defilements to be purified, it is discipline because it purifies all the sins and faults of the three doors of oneself and others; gladly accepting the hardships of the means to please the Three Jewels, and also not being angry with the gods and demons who harm oneself, it is patience for giving the feast of generosity; exerting effort to please the guests with the three, preliminary, main, and subsequent actions, is diligence; in the realm of the conventional arising and ceasing, offering limitless superior and inferior offerings with one-pointed mind is meditation; ultimate

Okay, identified. Let's analyze this. Here is the actual explanation of the ritual. The first point is: As mentioned before, in any school of thought, whether internal or external, except for not explicitly mentioning the name, there is a Sang offering ritual that corresponds to the basis of the name. In particular, considering the current situation, the Sang offering ritual is a common ritual of Sutra and Tantra, just like the Mandala and water offerings. The second point is: Some people explain it as a Bon tradition, but even so, apart from scattered mixtures of building shrines and burial mounds, etc., in reality, it has not been transmitted from the teacher of Bon, or the Bon mandala has not been placed as the main object of offering, etc., so I do not see the necessity. Some claim that Guru Padmasambhava composed the Sang offering prayer text in Tibet, but apart from special supplements for Tibetan gods, demons, and local deities, etc., in reality, it cannot be denied that it does not exist in India. It is also unreasonable for Guru Rinpoche to suddenly create something that never existed before. If it is said to be based on the Bon scriptures, then the refuge of the Three Jewels, etc., is the same as before. Therefore, our own tradition cannot determine whether there are any special features in the Indian scriptures and commentaries. In particular, as mentioned before, the root vehicle, as well as camphor, agarwood, nutmeg, etc., the collection of fragrances arising from careful preparation, the vajra of the three fragrances, making it into butter, offering it to the deities of the mandala. As such, from these offerings that are generally and specifically displayed, it is reasonable to acknowledge that Guru Padmasambhava and other wise and accomplished masters have separately listed the Sang offering ritual as a special method of accumulating merit. The second point is: Regarding the cloud of fragrant offerings for purification, if we distinguish it from the opposite perspective, the color of the Sang smoke is excellent, clear and transparent, without obscuration, and shows various changing forms, this is form. The wording of the ritual, and the changes in the music of blowing, plucking, and striking instruments, etc., this is sound. The fragrance emitted by natural and synthetic incense, and the essence contained in immeasurable foods such as white, sweet, tea, wine, and delicacies, this is taste. The perfect fragrance touches the body in a gentle way, and just touching it brings special comfort, this is touch.
