Whatever it may be, these four circumstances will arise. One will not obtain merit, will not sleep peacefully, will be reproached by the noble ones, and after the body is destroyed, will be reborn in a bad destination. Thus it is said. Always being well-composed, not doing what should not be done, and constantly doing what should be done, for those who possess mindfulness and awareness, their outflows will be exhausted. Thus it is said. However much one speaks, they are not holders of the sacred Dharma. Those who, even though they have heard little here, have directly realized the Dharmas of the mind, those who are respectful of the (glU) Dharma, they are the holders of the sacred Dharma. Thus it is said. The afflictions destroy the self, destroy sentient beings, and destroy morality. With decline, what is obtained is diminished, and one is abandoned by protectors and teachers. Accompanied by disputes, with a bad reputation, one will be born in places where there is no leisure. Whether obtained or not obtained, one will decline, and obtain fear and great suffering. Thus it is said. In order to abandon these afflictions, cultivate calm abiding and insight, as well as ugliness, loving-kindness, dependent origination, and be mindful of breathing in and breathing out. Thus it is said. This was translated by Upadhyaya Vinayachandra and Dharmapazha. In the "Letter to a Son" composed by Paṇḍita Prajñāna, it is said: These beings sink into the swamp of desire, like an elephant sinking into the swamp. From desire arise fear and suffering, as well as sorrow and various harms. It can lead to killing, binding, dismemberment, and being thrown into fire, water, and cliffs. Due to craving for desire, beings experience suffering in hells, pretas, and animals. Thus it is said. For the sake of the sacred Dharma, one may abandon parents and go to other places like treating treasure. But how can one abandon parents for the sake of desire, and wander for the sake of being reproached? And so on. Due to attachment to wealth, one suffers in this life and suffers in the next life. One suffers in both, therefore, when one sees one's own karma ripening, one suffers greatly. Because of falling into lower realms, one regrets, and because of the suffering of accumulating, guarding, and losing, one should know that wealth is an endless heap of corpses. Those who are distracted by attachment to wealth have no opportunity to be liberated from the suffering of samsara. Thus it is said. Here, even if gold, silver, lapis lazuli, pearls, coral, agate, perfume, and Gandharapaṇa and so on rain down, those who seek wealth will not be satisfied.

Etc. If you, my son, seek wealth, then rely on the seven noble riches. Kings and thieves cannot steal them, and they will eliminate the poverty of samsara. It is also said that women are the cause of ruin, ruining this life and the next. Wealth is destroyed in all ways, and the root of evil destinies is women. It is also said that women's food is twice as much, deceit is four times as much, jealousy is six times as much, and desire should be a hundred times as much. Just as wood exhausts fire, rain fills the great ocean, and all beings are like Yama, men are never satisfied with women. Furthermore, if you rely on a wife, the sutra says there are sixty-five faults. Therefore, you should abandon women. Thus it is said. If one drinks, one loses control from the throat after becoming drunk, habitually. One wanders in unfamiliar villages, suffering beatings and abuse. Without distinguishing between what is edible and inedible, one eats things mixed with poison. Therefore, my son, you should always abstain from intoxicating liquor. If one drinks, one becomes unstable and loses wisdom, abandoned by friends and mocked by enemies like livestock. One gathers to dance and sing, striking hand drums. Good reputation declines, who would drink it? Etc. If one drinks, one moves away from the basis of glory, even becoming higher and higher, one is destroyed, and the home with wealth is also ruined, who would drink this root of many evils? Furthermore, after drinking, the mind becomes extremely confused, and one even kills loving parents, killing innocent monks, Brahmins, and practitioners, praising thieves and adultery. One speaks lies, slander, harsh words, and filthy language, clinging to greed, harmful thoughts, and the darkness of wrong views. This root of non-virtue should not be drunk. If one drinks, discipline, meditation, wisdom, views, livelihood rituals, mindfulness, awareness, faith, and diligence all decline. Virtuous Dharma is trampled upon, it should not be drunk. Furthermore, in the Sutra of Victorious Joy, the Buddha proclaimed thirty-five faults of drinking alcohol. Therefore, my son, if you want to benefit me, you should not drink this root of all evils. Thus it is said. The Khenpo of Kashmir, Mahajñana, and the translator...
