There are three vehicles: Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas. Among them, it is said, "Elsewhere, there is no effort to expect fruit, because the path resides in what is to be accomplished itself, therefore this great expedient vehicle is free from action." Therefore, the two yogas of cause and effect are called the common general path. Among them, if the path of the special Sutra is classified, as it says, "The essence is skillful means and wisdom." Therefore, it is determined that there are two paths: the path of definite skillful means and the path of wisdom liberation. The first is: What is the method of cultivating the co-emergent wisdom of great bliss that melts and is immutable? Relying on the meditation method of the four wheels, the method of gradually guiding the co-emergent wisdom is the oral instruction of the upper gate; and the method of instantly guiding the co-emergent wisdom by relying on the absorption of space and secret, which is the oral instruction of the lower gate. As it is said, "Entering there by means of the playful karma and so on, through the method of oral instruction." The second is: Continuing from the above, "It proceeds in the manner of hearing, thinking, and meditating." There are three ways to enter there: "Following after investigation, analysis, meaning, and letters." Therefore, following after investigation and analysis, establishing the view must precede the practice of the path. That is, regarding the object of knowledge, by examining each of the knowable reasons and arguments, all phenomena abide in the nature of reality as it is, the three mandalas are inseparable, and it is free from thought and expression, which is the established doctrine. Following the meaning is the order of meditating on non-conceptual samadhi. Because the meaning of meditation is the essence of reality as it is, the mind of the meditator also abides in it and meditates. As it is said in the General Sutra, "In the reality of suchness, the mind of suchness abides, in the state of non-expression, constantly remembering without distraction." Following the letters is the order of meditating on the samadhi of deities with signs. Just by reciting the generation mantra, like a fish leaping out of the water, visualizing the container and its contents as a clear and unmixed mandala of deities is the main practice.

Thus it is said. Among them, for those of great wisdom, since they can realize and become accustomed to the ultimate in one fell swoop, they are free from the effort of progressing through the stages of the path. As for those of small and medium wisdom, they progress through the four learning paths gathered by the ten grounds, either gradually or by means of sudden transcendence, thereby uniting with the ultimate fruit of the path of no learning. So, what are the ten grounds? First, the ground of uncertain change; second, the ground of the basis of reliance; third, the ground of important training; fourth, the ground of constant learning; fifth, the ground of merit as support; sixth, the ground of going to distinction by reliance; seventh, the ground of giving birth to fruit by means of the object; eighth, the ground of non-returning; ninth, the ground of spreading the nature of reality; tenth, the ground of perfect general vehicle. These are also combined with the ten situations of each of the ten grounds, such as the occasion of generating aspiration, following the essence of reality as it is, meditating on the path of one's own ground as the order of jumping, so that the practice of each of the ten grounds, the two coarse and subtle habits of ripening karma, the three coarse, medium, and subtle habits of the cause of manifestation, the co-occurring and the co-existing, and the three obscurations of dormancy, coarse, medium, and subtle, are gradually purified, and the ten minds, such as the moving Bodhicitta that combines with the higher and higher grounds, such as the tiny stars, are combined with the ten grounds and progressed, as widely stated in the root commentary tantras and instructions such as the second chapter of the Root Tantra of the All-Gathering. How are these gathered by the four learning paths? The first and second grounds are gathered by the Yoga of Aspiration and Thought of the Accumulation Path, and by obtaining these, the common achievements such as the ability to transform with subtle eyes, clairvoyance, and miraculous powers are gradually accomplished, and the merits of the Accumulation Path such as seeing the face of the Buddha's manifestation body appear. Then, the three grounds of the third, fourth, and fifth are gathered by the Yoga of Separating the Great Families of the Path of Preparation, thereby accomplishing the deity body of wind and mind only, and the merits of the Path of Preparation such as realizing everything as illusion without interruption between day appearance and night appearance appear. Thereupon, by practicing the near cause of the practice of accumulation, the coarse changes of semen, atoms, wind, and mind

Subduing, free from the five fears, exhaustion of outflows. The sixth ground, relying on and surpassing the path of seeing, is encompassed by the yoga of great bliss. By the power of directly seeing the self-nature of reality, the deity body of bliss-emptiness wisdom luminosity is accomplished, and mastery over one hundred and twelve qualities is obtained. Traveling through the Buddha-fields of the five families to listen to the Dharma, etc., all the qualities of the path of seeing will manifest. After that, after rising from the luminosity of the path of seeing, realization. The seventh ground, the path of cultivation where results arise from conditions, is encompassed by the yoga of obtaining great Long, obtaining the wisdom of realizing reality, and the appearance of the pure deity body is continuous, accomplishing the body of union. After that, the eighth, ninth, and tenth grounds are encompassed by the yoga of perfecting the great path. Thus, in general, the four grounds of the ultimate path of cultivation are encompassed by the nine grounds of the path of cultivation with beginning and end. In those, the previous one hundred and twelve qualities of the path of seeing will increase to incalculable Buddha-fields, the number of extremely fine dust particles of ten trillion hundred thousand kotis, and the qualities such as the four miracles and the ten freedoms will manifest. Thus, by practicing the path of union in the four paths of learning, the ultimate fruit of the path of no learning is attained. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras, "After the last meditation is completed, empowered by great rays of light." Thus, in the Mantrayana, the culmination of the path of learning, the tenth ground, at the end of the continuum, is empowered by the fruit of the path of great desire, and at the end of the arising and ceasing of the four joys, the subtle essence stops above and below. In the second moment of that, the subtle wind stops, and the subtle consciousness that experiences that change also ceases. As stated in the General Sutra, "Not born from another, self-born." And as stated in the Prophecy Sutra, "The ultimate wish-fulfilling jewel, a body without accumulation, exhaustion, or increase, the meaning of those to be tamed is without substance, spontaneously accomplished qualities are self-manifest." Thus, as stated in the sutras, the qualities of the ground spontaneously abide, only manifesting. In ultimate truth, there is no need to remove the original defilements, nor is there a need to accomplish the original qualities.
