With diligence that rejoices in virtue, and mindfulness that does not forget the points of the instructions, with samadhi that focuses the mind one-pointedly on the object of examination, and with prajna that thoroughly distinguishes the objects of knowledge, etc., becoming a vessel of inconceivable qualities, the arising of a mind that corresponds to the desire to attain perfect enlightenment for the sake of others, for those bodhisattvas who understand these four places, it will always be constantly present. Thus it is said. The benefit of practicing the paramitas is: As previously explained, the mind of enlightenment, because it is always constantly present, the sons of the buddhas will no longer turn back from the unsurpassed enlightenment, and being urged by this special intention, with the means of combining the accumulation of merit, they will also be able to perfect and purify the first five paramitas, that is, the first five paramitas such as generosity, etc., which become the accumulation of merit with the aim of benefiting sentient beings, because there is no attachment to the three wheels of the agent, the action, and the object, therefore these paramitas will be perfected, and becoming pure, it is because the opposing factors of generosity, etc., such as the obscurations of stinginess, etc., have been completely eliminated. Thus it is said. These can also be summarized into three: The object of merit arising from generosity is the paramita of generosity; the object of merit arising from morality is also the paramita of morality; the paramitas of patience and meditation are the objects of merit arising from practice, and the diligence that arises with joy for these is universally applicable to all three, so in summary, it is in accordance with the three objects of merit that are spoken of. Thus it is said. Identifying the two obstacles of non-commonality is: the giver and, the object of giving and, the giving

and so on, conceptually engaging in the three spheres, whatever these are, are obstacles to the completion of the five perfections, and are the obscurations of knowledge; stinginess, desire, anger, laziness, and distraction, and so on, conceptually engaging, whatever these are, are obstacles to becoming completely pure, and are the obscurations of afflictions, therefore these should be abandoned. Thus it is said. The way to obtain supreme wisdom through antidotes is: in order to thoroughly understand such a state of affairs, there is no other cause that can eradicate these two obscurations from their roots other than wisdom. Because, generosity and so on, which are inseparable from wisdom, can only suppress the manifest obscurations, but cannot eradicate the seeds from their roots. But with perfect wisdom, one can eradicate the seeds of the two obscurations, including their habitual tendencies, from their roots, therefore, from the five perfections gathered by the accumulation of merit, wisdom gathered by the accumulation of wisdom is the most supreme. And the basis for increasing such wisdom is: properly hearing the scriptures and their commentaries that explain such four states of affairs, therefore, compared to the great merit arising from generosity, discipline, and meditation, the wisdom of hearing such profound Dharma is the most supreme. Thus it is said. Now, the complete activity will be explained, the meaning to be explained is to be explained in detail, and the way of explaining is to be shown in summary. There are three aspects to the detailed explanation: how the treatise was composed, how to abandon what is harmful to the Dharma, and how to dedicate the merit of composing the treatise. There are five aspects to the way of composing, the first two are: On what basis is it explained? As shown above, the explanation of the seven vajra places, etc., is not self-made or biased, but relies on the noble Sutra Requested by the King of Dhāraṇī自在王, the Sutra of the Tathāgatagarbha, the Sutra Requested by Śrīmālā吉祥鬘, the Sutra Teaching No Increase and No Decrease, the Sutra of the Light of Wisdom Entering the Realm of All Buddhas, and so on, which are certain.

Therefore, the completely pure sacred teachings are a source of faith, mainly explaining the intention (of the Buddha), and relying on the reasoning of temporary actions, related reasoning, and the reasoning of establishing validity, ultimately relying on the reasoning of profound Dharma-nature, it is perfectly explained. This is its meaning. For what purpose? Starting from one's own benefit, the author himself is the sole essence of the Dharma realm, completely purified even by extremely subtle obscurations, in order to attain ultimate Nirvana; starting from the benefit of others, for those fortunate beings who are not robbed of such a most profound meaning, who possess a desire, and those who, through the accumulation of merit, obtain the most perfect and excellent qualities, in order to receive them with a feast of good teachings, this treatise is explained. This is its meaning. How to explain it is as follows: For example, just as relying on the light of a lamp, the light of electricity, the light of a jewel, the light of the sun, and the light of the moon, those with eyes are able to see objects, similarly, just like that, understanding the vast meaning of the self-characteristics and general characteristics of all phenomena, correctly knowing each meaning, unimpededly understanding all names, correctly knowing each Dharma, unimpededly understanding the languages of all beings, correctly knowing each definitive word, unimpededly understanding all classifications of Dharma, correctly knowing each wisdom, relying on the light of the Muni, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, who emits rays of light, seeing the profound Suchness with the eye of wisdom, thereby thoroughly clarifying this treatise. This is its meaning. What is the essence to be explained? The supreme Dharma, what is expressed is the profound and vast meaning, closely connected with the flawless Dharma of speech, what is to be abandoned is all the afflictions of the three realms.
