Likewise, the same defects exist in other things as well. Therefore, all that you have compounded will become uncompounded. Wherever you demonstrate the permanence of virtuous dharmas, the same exists in non-virtuous and indeterminate dharmas, and also in things like nirvana. Therefore, all that you have compounded will become uncompounded. Why? Because without a cause, there will be no arising, abiding, and ceasing. Without these, there is no characteristic of the compounded, and everything will become uncompounded. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that because the self-nature of things like virtue exists, all things are not empty. Furthermore, you say: 'If dharmas have no self-nature, then the name 'no self-nature' will also not exist, because without a basis, there is no name.' To this, I will explain: To those who claim that names have self-nature, you should answer in this way. I do not claim that names exist. You should answer those who claim that this name has self-nature. If the self-nature of the thing with a name does not exist, then that name should also not have self-nature. Because for something that does not exist, a name cannot have self-nature. We also do not claim that names have self-nature. Therefore, because the self-nature of things does not exist, the self-nature of names also does not exist. Therefore, it is emptiness. Because it is emptiness, it is non-existent. Therefore, it is unreasonable for you to claim that because a name exists, self-nature exists.' Furthermore, like this: '“Non-existence has no name,” is this existent or non-existent? If it is existent or non-existent, then both of your statements will fail.' 'Non-existence has no name,' does this refer to something without a name being existent or non-existent? If this name is existent, or if it is non-existent, then both commitments will fail. If we temporarily assume that the name 'no name' is existent, then the commitment of 'no name' will fail, because it is not non-existent, now it is existent. If 'no name' is non-existent, then something that is non-existent has no name. Therefore, your commitment that names have self-nature fails. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, as previously stated, the emptiness of all things has been elucidated. Therefore, even without a commitment, you may seek any fault-finding. Here, we have extensively elucidated the emptiness of all things, and thus, names are also shown to be empty. Therefore, even without a commitment, you seek this fault-finding, but we do not say that names exist. Furthermore, you say: 'If self-nature exists, but it does not exist in phenomena, then without phenomena, whose self-nature should be indicated?' To this, I will explain: 'If a self-nature exists, but it does not exist in phenomena.' If you raise a doubt, then this statement, this doubt, does not exist. We do not deny the self-nature of phenomena, nor do we acknowledge that there is any self-nature of anything apart from phenomena. If that is the case, if phenomena do not have self-nature, then shouldn't it be indicated whose self-nature it is, that is, something other than phenomena? Isn't your lengthy fault-finding a fault-finding? Furthermore, you say: 'Because there is no pot in the house, it negates existence itself.' Because it is seen, therefore you negate the self-nature of existence. To this, I will explain: 'If existence is negated, then emptiness is fully established.' Because you negate that things have no self-nature. If you only negate existence, but not non-existence, and you also negate that all things have no self-nature, then isn't it fully established that all things have no self-nature? Because your reasoning negates existence, and because it negates that all things have no self-nature, emptiness is fully established. If you negate emptiness, and that emptiness is also non-existent, then isn't your statement 'negating existence' contradictory? If you negate that all things have no self-nature, that is, emptiness, and that emptiness is also non-existent, then isn't your commitment to 'negate existence, but not negate non-existence' broken? Furthermore, because there is nothing to be negated, I do not negate anything. Therefore, you accuse me of negating.
