If impermanence can produce its own result, then permanence can also produce its own result. If permanence can produce its own result, then all results will be produced simultaneously. In the *Pramāṇavārttika* (Commentary on Valid Cognition), it says: 'Destruction exists, which is related, because of itself, sound is impermanent.' etc. There are five scriptures that say existence pervades impermanence, and this is also in this regard. The Mind-Only School does not believe that true existence pervades impermanence, because the Dharmadhatu (realm of phenomena) is truly existent. The Madhyamaka (Middle Way) School does not believe that existence in false conventional truth pervades impermanence, nor does it believe that existence in true conventional truth pervades impermanence, because all phenomena that are the basis of emptiness are considered to exist in true conventional truth. True existence is not accepted, so it is not the basis for investigation. The third question is, someone thinks that the Dharmadhatu does not exist either. Then, based on whose view is such a statement made? This is actually based on the view of the Madhyamaka School, because this is when explaining one's own doctrine when explaining the *Three Vows*. Then, if according to that school's view, true existence is not the basis of investigation, and conventional existence does not pervade impermanence, as mentioned earlier, what should be done now? If it is the virtue in the phrase 'Dharmadhatu, all beings' all virtues,' then this existence can be divided into three types: The first type is that things exist in the basis of emptiness, such as things; the second type is that things do not exist in the basis of emptiness, such as non-things; the third type is that things exist in non-dual freedom from elaboration, such as self-nature emptiness. If it is the first case, then the Dharmadhatu is not the existence at that time, because the existence at that time pervades impermanence, as Dharmakirti (Dharmakīrti) said in the view of the Sautrāntika School, and there is no difference in the view of the Madhyamaka School. The existence at that time is functional, and if permanence is functional, then all functions will occur simultaneously, and this reasoning is as natural for the Madhyamaka School as drinking tea and eating sugar. If it is the second case, then if it is a non-thing, there is no agent and no object. If it is the third case, then, 'If the realm of beings is neither a thing nor a non-thing, but is free from elaboration, then there is no difference from the Dharmadhatu mentioned earlier.' This situation will be explained later, so it is not mentioned here, only the first case is mentioned, which is to make those who already know or can think even if they do not know happy. May it be auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opening with the light of discernment, This lotus of questions and answers blooms. You, endowed with the bee of seeking, Are the source of profound nectar. May whatever virtuous merits are attained, Cause all beings as vast as the sky, To uproot the darkness of ignorance, And attain the sun of wisdom! This was offered by the learned monk Sonam Senge (Merit Lion) to Zinonpa Konchok Gyaltsen (Jewel Banner) in the eastern part of Dokham. The Questions and Answers of Sun and Moon Lion The Questions and Answers of Sun and Moon Lion To the venerable and holy Lama, the embodiment of undifferentiated compassion and inconceivable wisdom, the source of all powers, blessings, and attainments, I prostrate and take refuge at your immaculate lotus feet. Please, with great love, always hold me in your care. To the questions of the virtuous friend Sun and Moon Lion, I will give a brief answer: The first question is: 'If one's own school considers the realization of a portion of selflessness of the person, to which of the four schools (Vaibhashika, Sautrantika, Chittamatra, Madhyamaka) does this belong?' The answer is: This belongs to the Madhyamaka school. Because the venerable (Tsongkhapa) himself cited the teachings of the Ornament for Clear Realization and elaborated on its system. You might think, 'If that is the case, then it must be combined with the generation stage of Highest Yoga Tantra.' The matter is like this: Generally, the characteristics of the Buddhist schools are that some acknowledge an inexpressible pudgala-self, some acknowledge external objects as truly existent, some do not acknowledge external objects but acknowledge the grasper, and some acknowledge neither the grasped nor the grasper. Therefore, these four views should be combined with the generation stages of the four classes of tantra respectively. This does not mean that all the views of the four schools should be combined with the generation stages of the four classes of tantra. For example, how do all the tenets of the Kashmirian Vaibhashikas, as explained in the Treasury of Knowledge, correspond to the generation stage of Action Tantra? One should apply this understanding to the others as well. The second question is: 'If the ultimate result is explained as the four bodies, and it is considered the result of the four initiations, then how should the explanation of the four-body system in the Compendium of Topics be understood?' The answer is: The venerable (Tsongkhapa) only spoke of the three bodies and four wisdoms in the Paramitayana, while in the Vajrayana he spoke of the four bodies and five wisdoms. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
