It is merely a dharma, and experiences, memories, etc., can be analyzed by reason, which must be attributed to dharma. For example, the cognitive experience of the eye consciousness perceiving blue is remembered by the subsequent memory consciousness; the karma accumulated by the mind is enjoyed by the subsequent feeling, and so on. Therefore, since individuals do not have experiences and memories, there is no situation where one person experiences and another remembers. However, the experiences and memories of dharmas are different because they are causal relationships. This is their view. The Prasangika Madhyamaka school believes that in conventional truth, experiences and memories can be attributed to both dharmas and individuals, but experiences and memories are not other, because if they are causal relationships, they must not be other. These are very important for the tenets of Madhyamaka and Pramana, and it is hoped that wise people will keep them in mind. Therefore, the antidote to the correct view is taught below. The third part is teaching the antidote to the correct view, which is divided into two parts: teaching the antidote to eliminate craving; without craving, there is no samsara. Teaching the antidote to eliminate craving. The first part is: By contemplating the sixteen aspects such as impermanence (無常), suffering (苦), emptiness (空), and selflessness (無我) with proper attention, this correct view can eliminate all craving and the accompanying miserliness, jealousy, and all afflictions. Because the object of focus, the Four Noble Truths themselves, contradicts the sixteen inverted aspects such as permanence, it can truly realize and cultivate the sixteen aspects such as impermanence. This is a general rule. Because for the object of focus, the Truth of Suffering among the Four Noble Truths, one clings to the stable permanence, pleasure, self, self's, etc.; for the Truth of Origin, one clings to the four inversions such as non-cause; for the Truth of Cessation, one clings to the four inversions such as non-cessation; for the Truth of the Path, one clings to the four inversions such as non-path. Therefore, because ignorance falsely imputes these sixteen non-real aspects, the craving arising from this ignorance leads to acceptance and rejection of pleasure and pain. Without craving, there is no samsara. The second part is: If a practitioner abandons the craving arising from self-grasping, even if karma and the body still exist, they will no longer be able to take rebirth, because among the three main factors leading to samsara—karma, afflictions, and body—the most important affliction no longer exists. For example, if there is no seed, there will be no sprout. Here, the treatises on the Truth of the Path are all arguing that the path of realizing emptiness is the antidote to samsara. The root of the suffering of samsara is ignorance, which is contained in the view of the aggregates, and craving as a contributing factor, so the focus of this treatise is also on counteracting these. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the two instances of practice, the first is: As previously stated, 'the path already spoken' demonstrates that realizing selflessness has the power to abandon samsara (cyclic existence). Thus, it is argued from three aspects: entering the reality of objects, contradicting the view of self and self-grasping, and the view of self being the root of samsara. The first aspect is: 'Consciousness grasping the nature of objects,' and so on. The second aspect is: 'Because the view of emptiness contradicts it,' and so on. The third aspect is: 'Whoever sees a self, then,' and so on. If one knows that other paths have the fault of attachment to self, and meditates on the aggregates (skandhas) as suffering, and understands that the aggregates and the self are different, and generates revulsion towards suffering, these do not contradict the view of self and self-grasping, therefore they cannot abandon the view of self, and thus cannot be an antidote to samsara. That is to say: 'If attachment has faults,' and so on. The meaning of all these is summarized in one verse: 'Therefore, those who desire liberation, without hindrance,' and so on. The second is: Just as in the instances of manifestation and arising, craving is established as the cause that definitely produces suffering. Similarly, if craving is not abandoned, the suffering of samsara cannot be abandoned. The rituals spoken of in the scriptures do not help to eliminate self-grasping, therefore they cannot abandon craving as a result. That is to say: 'The scriptures are such realities,' and so on. The path of realizing selflessness, through abandoning self-grasping as the cause, can abandon craving as the result, along with its retinue. That is to say: 'Relying on the Four Noble Truths,' and so on. The meaning of all these is summarized in one verse: 'When actions and bodies remain,' and so on. There is no antidote to abandoning actions and bodies separate from the antidote to afflictions. That is to say: 'Actions and bodies are not abandoned,' and so on. Like this, taking the path of liberation of one's own school as the main point of argument, and preventing the path of liberation of other schools from appearing at the appropriate time. It is not acceptable to make Tibetan commentaries without paying attention to this. The way to liberate through meditating on selflessness, and refuting the arguments of others, and establishing the realization of emptiness as the path, and the antidote that does not abandon self-grasping cannot become the path, these are the four aspects. In the last aspect, there are three aspects: not clinging to what is considered 'mine,' and merely the rituals spoken of in the scriptures, and the method of exhausting actions and bodies cannot become the antidote. Other schools establish the path of liberation of their own school, and refute the path of liberation of other schools, these are the two ways. In the latter way, there is not clinging to what is considered 'mine,' and meditating on the aggregates as suffering, and knowing that the aggregates and the self are different, and generating revulsion towards suffering. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
