When the wind that activates secret awareness is exhausted, conceptual thoughts cease to flow. When it ceases, the cause of the mind's conceptual agitation is exhausted. At that time, two kinds of signs will appear: signs shown by dreams, and signs appearing in the three doors. First, the signs perceived through dreams are: those with sharp faculties and great diligence will sink into the realm of dreams, and pure sleep will appear as luminosity. This is because the connection of habitual patterns is severed, and in this very life, the light body will be accomplished, which is a sign of attaining Buddhahood. Those of middling capacity will recognize and become accustomed to transformation in dreams, and will surely recognize the bardo and be liberated, which is a sign of that. The dreams of those of lesser capacity, with their negative habitual patterns, will gradually disappear, and they will only dream of good things, which is a sign of exhaling into the nature of the illusory body. The signs appearing in the three doors are: as a sign of seeing the manifest appearance of the nature of reality, the body no longer remains in activity, because the pulse is slow, like a turtle placed in a wooden bowl, without movement. Speech, because it has purified the basis of expression, is like a mute, not wanting to speak. The mind, because it has realized self-liberation without grasping, abides in concentration, like a dakini entering a pleasant place. As a sign of seeing the increasing appearance of experience, the wind dissolves into the central channel, without thoughts of good or bad, the body, like a person afflicted by illness, does not groom or adorn itself. Speech transcends negation and affirmation, and like a madman blurting out his own words, speaks nonsense randomly. The mind's collection of thoughts dissolves in its own place, like a person poisoned seven times, knowing that he will surely die, and does not turn back to recollection, making a firm decision. The three signs of wisdom reaching its limit are: the body gains mastery over the channels and winds, like an elephant stuck in the mud pulling itself out with its own strength, without attachment or obstruction to the five elements, passing through unimpeded. Speech knows that it transcends expression, and like a child singing from a pottery jar, captivates others and inspires faith. The mind realizes the meaning of primordial purity, original liberation, and the absence of a basis for further creation, and like a person cured of smallpox, believes that he will not return to the three realms. As a sign of seeing the appearance of the exhaustion of phenomena, the body purifies the gross elements, and like a corpse in a charnel ground, even if executioners appear, there is no fear or apprehension. Speech realizes the inexpressible, and expression vanishes, like an echo in a valley, disappearing in pairs, repeating the words of others. The mind

Because the clinging to objects and conceptual thoughts are completely purified, one can attain Buddhahood in an instant, like the dissipation of mist in the clear sky. Regarding this, the Root Tantra states: 'Measure with the three abidings, reversal of dreams and body, speech, and mind, the signs and measures must be ascertained.' Furthermore, it is also necessary to know that the essence of what is said in the tantras, in summary, is that for some individuals with dull faculties who grasp appearances as real, and for some who only look at the literal meaning and cannot understand deeply, if they experience the ability to manifest various forms, appear in various colors, see a second image in shadows or mirrors, or think they know the minds of others, they should meditate on wrathful deities, recite fierce mantras, chant the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) song, burn Gugul incense, wash themselves randomly with major and minor amrita, and smear old mud from dilapidated walls on their limbs. Alternatively, if obstacles appear disguised as gurus or yidams, they should be dispelled by cultivating bodhicitta and emptiness. In particular, if it is not a pure wisdom dakini, but various worldly dakinis who show forms and make prophecies from the sky, etc., and only accomplish common siddhis, this will become a sign of not being truly realized, and will increase attachment, aversion, acceptance, and rejection more than before. If it increasingly contradicts the Dharma, then one is controlled by worldly dakinis. If one abides in the meaning of selflessness, the dakinis will be controlled by oneself and cannot deceive. These are said to be signs of obstructing demons. Therefore, one must carefully distinguish the differences between experiences and signs, and strive not to let obstructing demons control oneself. Furthermore, due to the combination of wind and mind, if unreliable samadhi suddenly arises, or if uncertain phenomena such as divine images and lights appear in the sky, these are said to be signs of increase and decrease. At this time, one should sit in the middle of the water, with the neck submerged under a sixteen-finger-length wooden board, anoint the body with sandalwood and sesame oil, consume cooling foods, and recite the essence of unborn mind, the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A), etc. In this way, one can correct the errors and deviations in experience back to the correct path. Furthermore, having gained control over the limbs through extreme discipline of the body, the body becomes as soft as cotton, the complexion is good, and the hair turns white.
