When it dawns, it is called manifest awareness, which is free from all mental speculation. So it is said. Also, in the 'Garland of Lamps,' it says: 'The measure of practice is threefold: the measure of seeing, the measure of habituation, and the measure of stability. These three abide. The measure of seeing is this: the unchanging blue measure of space, the clear round lamp measure, the subtle moving awareness measure. One should know this at the time of seeing. The measure of habituation is threefold: from the blue arise five colors, appearing as large as an elbow. This is the first measure of habituation.' So it says. The lamp and awareness also, in the tantra, it says: 'From the roundness arises a brocade pattern, appearing at the tip of one's nose. This is the first measure of habituation.' So it says. 'Awareness like a bird hovering, is the first measure of habituation.' So it says. Thus, if one does not see the key point of manifest awareness, one will stray into the views of intellectual experience and mental speculation, be stained by sin, and be in danger of falling back into samsara. It is not enough to see only the first signs of external appearances, but internally, with the eye of wisdom free from dust, one sees the key point of the truth of reality, free from the wrong views of mental speculation, and sin and downfall are exhausted. At this time, even if there are obstacles, one will not fall back into samsara, and one will breathe in the realm of the self-existing nirmanakaya. In the tantra, it says: 'If one does not see manifest awareness, one will wander in the darkness of mental speculation, and revolve in samsara itself.' So it says. 'Seeing manifest awareness, by the key point of seeing the truth, one will not turn back in the three realms.' So it says. In 'After Transcendence,' it says: 'Whoever sees this key point of manifest awareness, will not turn back in the three realms.' So it says. The Appearance of Increasing Experience Second, the appearance of increasing experience. In the tantra, it says: 'For the appearance of increasing, it is important to distinguish the increase of experience.' So it says. Among the two, intellectual experience and appearance experience, the ten signs to be abandoned, such as smoke, mirages, and fireflies, which arise from the aggregation of wind and mind, and the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, which are clung to by those with mental speculation, are all intellectual experiences belonging to illusion. Because they are accompanied by the clinging of consciousness, they are not stable, therefore they are said to be without reliance. Here, internally, the light of awareness that sees the emptiness of the nature of reality, the light of wisdom that is self-luminous, increases externally without changing.

, the inner channels dissolve into light, and the simultaneous appearance of the liberation of secret afflictions, not relying on the speculation of consciousness, surpassing the wisdom of speculation, for the sake of the unchanging, stable, and infallible nature of the experiential phenomena themselves. As stated in the tantras: "Consciousness is said to be a deceptive illusion." As it says in the Bodhicharyavatara: "The ultimate is not the realm of consciousness; consciousness is considered to be conventional truth." Thus, in the experience of the signs of the path of the liberation of awareness within, the radiance of the self-arisen wisdom of mind itself manifests outwardly in the form of colors, with the sphere of reality and wisdom alternately clear and unclear, from which great light emanates, and the sphere of reality and wisdom becomes free from limitations. The five lights extend upwards, rays of light shine forth, spear tips, eyelids, nets and half-nets, stupas, patterns of many eyes, wheels, vajras (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्र, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra, literal Chinese meaning: diamond), jewels (Tibetan: རིན་པོ་ཆེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: रत्न, Sanskrit Romanization: ratna, literal Chinese meaning: jewel), thousand-petaled lotuses, swords, sun and moon, castles, flames, and creatures like fish eyes appear uncertainly. The appearance of the sphere of reality extends as far as the eye can see, like villages, like three thousand worlds, and even filling entire pure lands. Bindus also gradually increase in size from as small as a bean to as large as a mirror, a bowl, or a shield, and then to immeasurable sizes. Within, the faces, halves, and complete forms of the five families of buddhas gradually appear. The stream of awareness also becomes slower, clearer, and more stable, like a shooting star, like a bird flying, like a wild animal running on a ridge, like a Sharana walking slowly, like a bee circling around nectar. Furthermore, when the appearance of the sphere of reality is as small as a fingernail, it is crucial to look forward at the radiating light, downward at the fragments and upward extending light, upward at the crescent moon, to the right at the square, to contract to the left at the circle, downward at the triangle, and to look straight ahead at the castle. When the appearance of the sphere of reality is as small as a fingernail, the bindu is as large as a mirror, and the awareness is like a bird flying or a wild animal running, this is the intermediate level of familiarity. When the light of the sphere of reality pervades three thousand worlds or fills a pure land, and within the immeasurable bindus, there are subtle forms of heads, halves, and complete bodies, and the vajra chain of awareness remains in the place where it is viewed, and in the spaces between, subtle forms of each of the five families of buddhas appear, this is the supreme level of familiarity. It is certain that from this point onwards, the experience will completely increase.
