Without a place, there is no accomplishment, and in this life, there is no attainment of supreme bliss. Therefore, for the sake of the body's benefit, one should meditate on the union of the channels at every moment of the day and night. If the body is accomplished, then other accomplishments, the realms of the three existences, will be completely under one's command. It is said that the outward flow of the life force and downward-cleansing wind is the stage of gathering, which is the cause of death; drawing the wind inward and remaining unmoving is the stage of generation, which is the cause of prolonging life. Therefore, for the sake of worldly and transcendental accomplishments, the body should be protected. The great commentary says: 'Therefore, the meaning of the body is the wind,' meaning the essence of the body is the mind of enlightenment, and the cause of protection is to meditate on the union of the channels at every moment of the day and night. Some say that the union of lalana and rasana is the union of the channels, that is, to meditate on the life force in the central channel; the union of the channels for excretion and urination, the downward-cleansing wind, is like wintergreen resin. At times of day and night, one should meditate on the union of the channels in twelve periods. By meditating on this, the body is accomplished; when the body is accomplished, other accomplishments, worldly accomplishments, will be completely under one's command, which is the certainty of accomplishing worldly accomplishments. Third, for how long should one meditate on the life force exertion? One should meditate until the winds in the left and right channels no longer flow, and the flow is always only from the central channel. After that, one should meditate on holding. If the heart is afflicted by heat and there are stinging pains like hair standing on end, etc., one should not meditate on the life force exertion without eliminating the obstacles with the key points of counteracting the downward-cleansing wind and the oral instructions of the lama on skillful means for one's own body, etc. The inner class of the tantra says: 'If the life force exertion is done too intensely, the heart and head will be burned by fire. Above them, in the lotus of goodness, one will not be victorious, either because of lack of control or because of excessive force. The crown chakra will burst, and the aggregates and elements will abandon yoga and go to death. Those who are associated with mudras but are degenerate will not give the fruit of happiness in this life.' And in its commentary: 'Here, the mantra practitioner performs the life force exertion vase-like on the body, so that the heart and head are burned by fire, the heart is burned, and the head is also afflicted.'

Until the change occurs. Do not go beyond that. That is the certainty. If one goes beyond that, one will faint in the good lotus, meaning one will faint in the navel lotus. If uncontrolled or improperly controlled, one will pierce the crown chakra with great force, abandoning the aggregates and elements, and go to death. Therefore, those who practice with mudras should not give the control of life energy and the resulting happiness in this life. This is the certainty of life energy control. Thus it is said. The fourth part is how to meditate: the certainty of the place of the meditator. The certainty of the body posture. The certainty of the gaze. The classification of meditation methods. And the certainty of vows, these four. First, any of the previous daytime places, mainly nighttime places. Second, the Vajra recitation begins as before, and the others are taught from below. Third, for both life energy controls, the gaze should be fixed on the end of dispelling obstacles, looking at the space between the eyebrows. As the tantra says: 'The gaze that dispels obstacles, entering the path of nectar, is also the six branches of close practice.' In its commentary it says: 'The gaze that dispels obstacles, dispelling obstacles is the coil of nectar.' Its gaze is entering the place of nectar, that is, the forehead. The gaze that dispels obstacles, entering the path of nectar, is also the close practice of the six branches.' The later part of the Guhyasamaja Tantra says: 'At the time of close practice, it is the image of the coiled nectar.' Fourth, the classification of meditation methods: Panchen Shakya Shri's instructions, the oral transmission of the six Vajra words, are in accordance with the intent of the tantra commentary. Among these six words are: purifying the channels with Vajra recitation, combining the filling and emptying winds, injecting life energy into the central channel bindu, filling the central channel bindu with coarse wind, forcibly blocking the paths of the sun and moon with fierce wind, if the lower gate is forcibly blocked, then performing the union of releasing the upper life, and drinking nectar by moving the three tongues, these six. Each of these, remembering the literal meaning is the verbal instruction, understanding the true practice is the true instruction, experiencing the experience is the experiential instruction, generating qualities is the fruit instruction, these four ways to cultivate. First, purifying the channels with Vajra recitation, as the tantra says: 'Due to the movement of the sun, moon, A, and Ka, the body...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
